New homescreen icon
I will start by saying that you guys have developed a really, really great service, so smooth and well thought out. All honour to you! This was all that I would want in a service like this, and the connection between mobile and desktop is just great!
One little thing, and this is just a first world porblem; I would like to see a little different icon on iOS. I feel that the interface within the app itself is so good, but the icon isn't quite up to that level. Just a tiny request. But I feel that by seeing…

Allow people to be removed from a group
At ANY TIME, so that you can remove someone from a group without them having to zero out first. Like if they were accidentally added and then need to be removed later.
2 votesUnfortunately, we can’t do this – for mathematical reasons.
Imagine a two-person group, where Anna owes Bob $20. If you removed Anna without settling up first, then the group would just say “Bob is owed $20” – without any idea of where that $20 should come from. The same principle applies no matter how many people there are: if you remove someone with a non-zero balance, then someone ELSE in the group is left with a debt that can’t be paid.

categories for different kind of taxes.
Add an option for the % of tax on that particular commodity. 5% or 2.5%, I am from Virginia and I have 1 single bill with electronics and groceries in it.
3 votesIn a case like this, it’s probably easiest to add the electronics and the groceries as two different bills. Adding a % tax for each individual item seems like it would introduce a lot of complexity – depending on how many items are on your bill, you might end up having to type in an extra number dozens of times. Sorry!

Allow for multipliers in Itemized bills
It would be great if you could add a multiplier/shares for itemized bills. You could probably just add a x1 next to the price and have up/down arrows to make it x2, x3, etc. This would be reaaally usefull when you itemizing but one of your friends had 2 shares or was paying for his/her partner/kids, etc.
I saw that there where some ideas like this already submited.. but they were marked as Under review since almost 1 year ago!

1 voteWe’re declining this one for now – it’s a reasonable idea, but itemized bills are only used by a small percentage of our users, and we worry that adding multipliers might make the itemized bill interface more confusing. We may revisit this further down the line, though. Thanks for the suggestion!

"settle up" button has ambiguous meaning
The use of the "settle up" button to begin a payment is a bit confusing. Perhaps I'm just used to the way Splitwise used to work, but when I think "Settle up", I imagine seeing the list of who owes who. I actually ended up spending quite some time looking for the button to add a payment, before resorting to clicking on suspicious looking buttons and finding it under "settle up". Anyway, I think it would be more straightforward to to have an explicit "record a payment" button, just like the old days.
2 votesWe’ve decided to stick with the Settle up wording in the interface. We’ve seen too much confusion the other way now that you can actually send money via Paypla or Venmo.

rename friends after they logged in
it's great to have the possibility to name and rename newly added friends which has not logged in yet BUT I would also like to define my own names for my friends even after the logged in and defined their "official" name.
For example, my father logs in first time, enters his full name, but if I log in I still would like to see him as "dad" rather than "Alexander" (especially if I have multiple friends called "Alexander", which could easily happen).
4 votesWe don’t currently plan to support “renaming” friends – while it certainly would be useful for some users, we think that group of users is rather small, and as a small company we want to spend our development time working on bigger features and updates. Very sorry for the inconvenience!
For the “multiple Alexanders” problem, we try to encourage people to use both their first and last name, as well as a profile picture, to help distinguish them from other friends with similar names.

Allow payments through Amazon Payments which charges no credit card fees under 1000$ a month

We support recurring bills on the phone – just tap the date when adding a new bill, and you’ll see options to make that bill recur.
For payments, though, we decided not to include recurring options. When someone settles up on Splitwise, we want to make sure it’s because they took conscious action and actually settled up, not because something repeated automatically.

intergate with dropbox or gdrive as backup
Provide a option where we can sign in with out dropbox/gdrive login password account and export the data to dropbox account.
Just just gives a option data backup, incase some thing goes wrong.
6 votesBuilding a Dropbox or Google Drive integration isn’t in our plans right now – we take care to backup our own servers, and we already allow you to download basic backups in .csv format from the website. We’d much rather focus on improving core features.
And don’t worry: if Splitwise ever shuts down, we’ll notify all our users and give ample time for you to export your information :)

Get a logo
The "logo" in the top left corner doesn't make any sense. It's also in the splash screen of the iOS.
I really like the new design, very flat and smooth, but those ugly wide-spaced letters just drive me crazy!
There are many things you could do to improve this. Maybe just a simple sleek font will do the trick.

Not let peope in a group who where not involve access to modify a bill
I don't think that people that where not involved in a bill (even in the same group) should be able to modify it. Also, since everybody can modify anything, it would be good if you kept a log of transactions, ie: " John changed the total from X to Y"
1 voteWe allow members of a group to edit all bills in that group because we think it makes it easier for people to correct problems and fix other people’s mistakes. We think this is pretty important – otherwise, it can be a huge hassle when one person accidentally enters something incorrectly.

My profile picture suddenly disappeared because you un-enabled gravatar support.
2 votesSorry about this! We actually found that Gravatar was scaring some people away – they didn’t know where we got their picture from, and it really creeped them out. You can still upload an avatar from your user settings page, if you’d like, though I know that’s less convenient.

New Splitwise Interface
The previous interface was simple and neat both in terms of usability and look. I would prefer the previous interface over this. Also,the color combination used for new splitwise is not appealing.

Stop changing your UI
If you guys really think your UI is very cool let me tell you ..it's the most pathetic thing to constantly keep changing UI . Playing around with HTML and CSS does not make your app attractive. Stop changing theme you guys are not a big company like facebook that people will keep using it irrespective of whatever u do.

We try not to update our UI unnecessarily, but in this case, we think it was worth it. The last big change to our interface was almost a year ago (the recent “Add a bill” changes were part of a preview of this release), and since then we’ve spent a lot of time getting feedback from users about what they like, what they don’t like, and what they find confusing.
This new design is an attempt to make things clearer, friendlier, and easier to use, both for new users and existing users. We may have inadvertently made some parts of Splitwise harder to use, and if so, we apologize – if you have specific issues, we’re always happy to hear about them and see if there is a way to address them.

I would not like to see individual transactions in a group
We friends have created a group, and I observe that I can also view indiviual transactions between other friends. I am aware I can change the settings, but I think even in a group, you should not be able to view a transaction if you are not involved in it
1 voteWe intentionally chose for the expenses in a group to be visible to all members of that group – we’ve found that it makes it easier to fix errors when someone makes a mistake (e.g. someone is accidentally included on or excluded from a bill).
However, you can also add expenses that do not belong to any group, and those expenses will only be visible to the people involved. If you are in a group with many transactions that do not involve you, you may find it useful to get rid of the group entirely, and just add expenses directly with the people involved.

user_name id tag in Account Settings page is causing problem
This is a technical issue.

On this page there is text box to show the name of the user, its id is user_name, this is causing problem with addons like LastPass. They are auto filling it with email address.Kindly rename the id to something other than this.

1 voteHey Pratik – this sounds like a configuration error with LastPass. Changing the field’s ID would require us to override a bunch of default Ruby on Rails logic for handling input fields. Sorry for the trouble!

bring back the old quick add!
My roommates and I love splitwise! My only concern is your new layout. The quick-add used to be really good and quick. Now that its not right up front and you have to click on something else to get to it, its a lot less quick of an add. Also with the app it was really convenient that you could just press enter to do the quick add but now its just a search button. The only other thing is that we thought it was better when the people in the group were on top of the page instead of…
1 voteI’m sorry you miss the old quick-add (I do too!), but we actually found that most people never used it. We decided that hiding it beneath a click was a reasonable compromise – it’s only one click away for the people who do use it, but it’s easy to ignore if it’s not a feature you’re interested in.
I’ll pass on your other comments as well – we know the 3-column layout is very new, and there are probably tweaks and improvements that can be made. Thanks for all the feedback! :)

Add more factors to the rental split calclulator? (parking & furnishing)
Couple factors I'd love to see on split wise rental calculator:
Parking spot (checkbox for that room)
Most places in LA will value a parking spot at about $50 a monthFurnishing the room (to be left checked off if a roommate is not furnishing the room at all)
This is one of the greatest room splitting calculators out there. I'd love to see it become more robust!
1 voteGlad you like the calculators! We’ve actually considered both the factors you mentioned, and unfortunately we chose to leave them off – both vary too widely in cost to be useful in a simple calculation.
They’re definitely reasonable things to take into account when splitting rent, though! You’ll just have to decide for yourself how much they’re worth and how you’d like to split them :)

Deleting a bill
Only the creator should be allowed to delete the bill and not the share holder.
Also on a seperate note i started using app with USD and then changed the currency to INR but people i started with in still have USD next to them instead of INR

We do want to give people confidence that their bills have not been deleted, so in the user settings we have an “email me anytime someone updated / edits / deletes a bill.” We plan to change the default setting to alert you anytime a bill you created is deleted, which I think should give you some more confidence.
We strongly believe anyone should be able to delete a bill in order to help correct mistakes and make things simple and complexity-free.
The currency issue you are referring to can also be fixed in user settings – there is a button on the website that allows you to convert all expenses you have so far into your default currency (it just sets the currency code, it doesn’t do any currency exchange.)
