  1. change "repeat just this once" to "don't repeat"

When choosing a date for a bill, the first option is "repeat just this once", which is silly, isn't it? It's not actually repeating, it only happens once. I think changing it to "don't repeat" would be more appropriate.

Thanks for the feedback! We think the “Repeats just this once” phasing is more clear in the context where you’re looking at parallel sentence construction of a number of repeat options. I’ll bring this up at our next design meeting, but I expect we will keep the current language.

  2. fix sync issues

    Hey,
First of all I'd like to solute you for a VERY fine app, Really made our lives easier while we were travelling as a group of 5 guys in Romania.

I would definitely want to fix the sync issue since:
when we all sat down to settle the debts, some people clicked that they settled the debt and the guy they got the money from also clicked that the debt was settled so another negative debt was created, we figured it our quite fast but I wish this wasn't an issue. maybe if you'd let users sync their accounts…

Thanks for the suggestion! We do have some specific sync bugs that need to be worked out, but generally, you should be able to pull to refresh on any page that has a list of expenses or people on it. Is this what you’re looking for?

  3. Allow export of all transactions in QIF/QFX/CSV

I use PocketSmith for budgeting and personal finance.

When you think about it, a splitwise balance is like a loan/demand deposit (depending on whether you are net owed or owing money).

Since I use PocketSmith to give me a holistic view of my finances, I'd like it to reflect my Splitwise balance too (especially since I'm often owed 3 figure sums).

The easiest way to do this in an app/service-agnostic way would be to allow the export of *all* transactions, as a QIF/QFX/CSV file. Most personal finance/bugeting apps allow import from one or more of these formats.

    The current per-friend/group…

  4. Poor show up of "friend's page" to review expenses, for group expenses

When i am viewing all my dealings with my friend, the non-group expenses show up perfect. But the group expenses are not shown expense wise. They simply show up like "group_name : money_lent/borrowed".

Now when i click on that group I expect to see ONLY those expenses which are with that friend, but alas I am flooded with all group expenses!

Maybe the friend's page itself should break down group expenses.

Sorry for the trouble! We’d love to provide a more detailed breakdown of group debts in the future, though unfortunately it’s trickier than it may sound at first. (In particular, it’s hard to support this feature for groups with “simplify debts” enabled, where the amount you owe someone often can’t be explained as a list of specific items.)

  6. Split the dashboard and collection information according to currencies

Dashboard summary currently only shows total balances for 1 currency, can we split into multiple the same can be done for "You Owe" and "You are Owed" sections

Thanks for the suggestion! I’m not sure this is quite how we’d do it, but improving multiple currency display in the dashboard is something we can look into when we have the time.

Thanks for the feedback! I think we left this off intentionally to make the page a little simpler to use in the general case of just getting started, though I’ll see if we can think about adding a cancel button here.

Hi there. We do support Google login on Android. We may bring other social login options to mobile some day but it’s not on the road map presently.

If you created a web account via Facebook / Google, you can still log into that account on mobile. Just visit ‘account settings’ in the web app and add a password to your account. Then you can log in on mobile using your Facebook / Google ID and the password you set.

  9. Put the frequently used currencies on top

Me and my boyfriend are both belgian (euro), i am living in the UK (gbp) and he is living in the us (usd). This means we use these three currencies very often. When I add something in splitwise, the default currency is euro, and i have to scroll down a lot before I find the gbp or dollar. Something similar for my boyfriend. It would be very convenient if these three currencies would be on top of the list instead of in the middle of the alphabetical list.

Thanks for the suggestion! Our system depends on using 2 decimal places right now, which doesn’t make sense with a lot or currencies like INR. It’s not something we’re going to be able to fix soon, but it is something we’re hoping to get to eventually.

  11. Slack Integration

It would be great for teams (corporate or otherwise) to use a slack integration to keep track of SplitWise data. Slack is one of the top most platforms where most of us are always on - any plans to get that integration done?

  12. Double check your special character parsing on notes

When I add the following smiley face symbol to a comment, the text following the '<' is not rendered, along with the '<' itself:

    >_<

The '<' symbol and all text following are not rendered.

Thanks for building an awesome product!

Please partner with some Indian payment banks, so that we can settle up in the splitwise app itself. Paying via cash or bank transfer are just to painstaking

Thanks for the suggestion! We’d definitely like to add international support for making money transfers more directly through the Splitwise app. Hopefully that’s something we can include in a future update!

Thanks for the suggestion! The activity list has a 1 minute delay after expense adds to make it possible to correct obvious errors before notifications/activity items are added. We’ve had a lot of complaints like yours, though, so we’re considering changing this.

  15. Allow subset of group members for Pay with Adjustment

The "Split Equally" functionality allows us to select only some people in a group, and most of the other options (Split Unequally, Pay by Share, etc.) also allow for an easy way to split when not everyone is involved. Pay by Adjustment, however, requires the entire group to be included - it would be great if we could check/uncheck some group members here as well.

  16. Integrate a bill splitting app

Whether Splitwise makes this or integrates with another app like Tab, I think it would be super helpful to be able to scan your receipt and split items between people and divide tax and tip accordingly. It's annoying to have to split the receipt (like a restaurant receipt) in Tab and then copy that over to Splitwise. Not enough to make me stop using the app because it's been great but it'd be nice.

Thanks for the suggestion! We actually have a basic bill splitting app of our own (Plates), but we haven’t had the time to work on it for a while – our small team has been busy just working on the main Splitwise app. In the future, we’d love to update it to include OCR or a smooth integration with Splitwise!

  17. Ability to change who you owe money to

When simplified debt is on, it'd be great to be able to change who you owe money to, ie select the person that you will settle up with. This will allow couples to settle up with each other first.
Otherwise set preferences on who each person will settle with. Ie A always settles with C is C is owed money, balance to whoever else.

    Hi there Scott,

This is an interesting idea, and thanks for your feedback. It makes sense for cases where, for instance, one person lives in the same city as another, so it would be easier to manually assign the debts than to let Simplify Debts do its thing.

One work-around you can use it simply ignore the recommendations, and just pay who you want to settle up with; Splitwise will automatically re-adjust to accommodate your choices.

That said, I’ll leave this open for other people to upvote if they’d like it, but we’re not at all likely to do this because it would be a large change to the way we handle debt calculations.

    Best,
    Jon

  18. Dummy Users for simplified splitting

I suggest you to add functionality to add dummy users. For example if I am going on a trip and some persons unknown to me are present. As per current system I have to invite them and have to add to my friend list. I am suggesting to have option to add dummy user without any invite so that expenses can be split equally among number of people present on tour but not my friends. Admin must have right to make any group with N numbers of users with his choice of name so that he can easily manage the…

Thanks for the suggestion! We currently support adding dummy users to a group on the web only. When you create a new group (or go to an existing group’s settings page), you should be able to add group members that have a name, but no email address. Hope that helps!

  19. Allow an end date for recurring payments, or build an incremental recurring payment option

This would allow me to pay someone back in increments until the whole amount is paid back. For example, my fiance paid for flights for our upcoming vacation. I want to pay him back $700 over the next 6 months, so I'd like to set up a recurring monthly payment of $117 that ends after 6 payments. Alternatively, you could add another option for divided bills that automatically calculates and schedules gradual payments.

Thanks for your feedback! I see how this would be a good improvement. Are you aware that you can set a payment to reoccur already, although we don’t have as fine tuning as you’d like? If you need any help setting our (basic) reoccuring feature up please email support@splitwise.com. Thanks, Zoe

  20. add autocomplete (from keyboard) from currencies USD

currently inserting bills in other currencies than USD is painful.
I would like to click on "$" sign and quickly type e.g. EUR, PLN, GBD or something and press enter to have this currency used.
