Save unequal split settings
I always pay 2/3 and roommate pays 1/3 (i sublet one of the rooms, but think couples). % split is great but would be nice not to have to type 66.67 and 33.33 every time.
So sorry for the trouble! This is on our list of possible improvements for the future – I can’t say exactly when it’ll be added, but we know it’d be a useful improvement. In the meantime, our apologies for the inconvenience!

Just moved in with 3 people and it is kind of a pain to type in 4 percentages every time we need to split something for the house

Yes please! We share an apparment with my girlfriend and we usually split everything 50/50 except for food/groceries because she eats a little and I eat a lot so it makes sense to split it in a 30/70.
I would like a way to save the split percentage for that particular category in that group.
Or you know, any other way to save the split percentage. Thanks

+1 from me too. A must have feature.

+1 for me too, especially if you would be able to set this on a group level. We travel with friends and kids and have different weights depending on the age of the kids, would be very helpful if we could do this on a group level.

It would be great if you just implement split by shares to be saved.

+1 or really +4 (or +3, weighted 50%, 25%, and 25%, since that's what I'd like). My girlfriend and I live with two other roommates. We don't bother trying to split expenses any sort of way, especially since at any given time one of us may be jobless or in school.
What this means right now is my girlfriend owes tons of money and tons of money is owed to me. Every once in a while we go through the annoying process of doubly settling up, but that's not really a functional way for a program to work. We don't want to reenter each item as an uneven split constantly, since that's asking for things to get all screwed up (more user input = more user error).
Splitwise can already save all sorts of settings; this one doesn't seem like that much of a stretch.
PS This only needs to be for groups. It'll actually make groups useful, instead of just a marginally more convenient way to enter names.

We would need to split bills unequally by default too. Or at least if the application would remember the previous split so I wouldn't have to explicitly write it every time...

share-a-bill does this, by the way, on iphone...

I also split my expenses unequally. We're three friends who share and by default I pay a larger chunk than the rest which is how we've set it up (different incomes, socially minded, whatever).

like others, we are a group of people (some individuals, some families) organizing trips, going out for dinners etc. it makes no sense to have to list out individual family members

Like Angela, my and my partners income is patently different. It'd be great to have a group for items that are split by "income" shares such housing, utilities. And obviously a group for full splitting like Splitwise already does such as meals, trips, etc.
As an idea for non-partner groups, having income based information in the individual members profile would protect privacy from other members.

It may be a while before Splitwise implements this, but there is a hack for this.
Suppose you split 66/33 with your friend. Make a group in which you have yourself, your friend and your shadow account.
This shadow account is simply your second account with another email address. So now when you enter an expense and split it equally, you'll get 2 parts of it and your friend gets the third part, automatically!
Same thing can be done with most of the commonly used ratios, but the number of shadow accounts will vary case by case.

This would be great because for a trip with 'couples', they would always pay twice.
I don't want to add them individually, because then it is untidy with settling - the couple would settle as one payment.
All the other tools I've used support this feature already so am surprised you don't see a need for it.

My partner and I split everything 35% / 65% due to our income disparity. I'd love to set our group to default to that split!

Along with % split, splitwise can easily implement ratio split. In that case you won't have to write 66.67 and 33.33 but just 2 and 1 as in 2:1 ratio.

I would love to be able to set a default split type for a group. I have a group that I always want split 1-1-2, but I have to enter this every time. It seems kind of silly to have all these features that let you figure out what a fair split is but then not have a way to save the fair split.

+1 for me (or +3 because that's how I voted). I'm hoping that this isn't such a low-requested feature nowadays seeing how it's on the Hot Ideas page.

I definitely would like to add my support for this change too. If you do have an uneven split, it would be nice to define it at the group level so that all the transactions for that group have those proportions going forward.

I would really like this feature too. My roommate and I always split 40/60 and it would be very convenient to have this as a default setting at group level.
