Allow users to designate that one of the splitters has already paid so as to better keep track of who has paid what to whome.1 vote
Update: when adding an expense, you can now click on the payer token and choose multiple payers, then add all people who have paid for the expense.
I’ll pass on the feedback! For now, you could try adding a note or comment to the bill with details on who has paid, or immediately adding a payment after you finish adding the bill.
I think you should add some more currencies and also a Automatic Conversion netween them.1 vote
Hey Mathias – I’ve just added the KES to our list of currencies. It may take an hour or two to appear on the website.
We don’t currently plan to do automatic conversion between currencies, because only a small percentage of our users would use it, and because there are a few thorny issues we’d rather not get involved with. (Say I add an expense today for something that happened six months ago…should I use the conversion rate for today, or the conversion rate from September 2012?)
to place a optional note while deleting a expense so that others in the group know the reason for the same1 vote
You can now add comments to expenses, which will show up in the recent activity feed, so you can comment on an expense and then delete it an your friends will have a record of what happened.
Please have a feature to show the email id when you hover over the display name.1 vote
We have this in some places in the web app. Let us know if we’re missing one you want.
i use both the mobile and webapp. i love splitwise.
i have disabled adblock on splitwise webpage; while i cant afford to pay for this, i thought i would support you guys atleast in this way...
keep up the good work..
Thanks for your kind words and support! :)
The way I use splitwise, I'm inputting a large number of transactions where someone else owes me the full amount. With the new design, I have to open a new menu and change the split settings for each transaction, which is a pain. Another solution would be to allow users to set defaults.1 vote
We’ve streamlined this a bit in the new version.
The fairness calculators page (https://secure.splitwise.com/calculators) still has the old black and green UI.1 vote
I suggest that you can reverse when you say you paid what you owe or someone paid as you can made mistakes and it should be possible to fix
Reverse payment done1 vote
You can simply edit the expense and change the payers and those who owe money to fix it.
Hi! This is an amazing website. It is really helpful, fast and easy to use. I used to use some other bill splitting website but Splitwise is way better.
Additionally, you guys always keep adding new stuff and keep enhancing the website.1 vote
Thank you so much, anon! We love working on it too, and let us know here about any feedback and new stuff you’d like to see.
Tried to change categories of existing items in a group consisting of ~30 expenses and it is not very responsive (category pop up is quick but setting the category is slow) - similar experience with adding new items. Seems to work quite well with small number of items. Great app, btw!1 vote
Thanks for the heads-up! I just did some investigating and I’m pretty sure I found the bug that was slowing you down – I’ve just released a small update to fix the problem. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more issues, and I’d be happy to dig in and figure out what’s up :)
I started to pay someone, but when I got to paypal I realized it would be easier to wait until someone paid me and I had a paypal balance to use. I cancelled, but expected the expense to still show up on the front page. I found it as "pending" under "all expenses", but it took quite a while to figure out that in order to try sending money again I was supposed to click the "update" button1 vote
Incomplete PayPal payments now have a button in the details to complete it on PayPal.
The string "Ver un resume imprimible" should actually be "Ver un resumen imprimible" i.e. resume -> resumen
Furthermore, when clicking on this printable view link, the view is in English, when it should be in Spanish!1 vote
Thanks for the heads up! If you see other Spanish errors you can report them to firstname.lastname@example.org directly.
Can we have a discussion area for groups where we can have conversations?1 vote
We added comments to expenses to talk about individual expenses. Let us know if you find you need more messaging features.
Would suggest to add support for below scenario -
A need to pay $10 to X and $5 to Y
Y need to Pay $10 to X
A did the payment of $15 to X and Y did teh payment of $5
This is what we call “Simplify Debts.”
If A, X, and Y are in a group:
Turn on Simplify Debts in that group by going to the group settings (website: click on group, click on gear in upper right, click on “edit group settings”, advanced settings, toggle Simplify debts on).
If A, X, and Y are not in a group:
You can access it on the website by clicking your name in the upper right, then “your account,” and then under advanced Features going to “Simplify Debts.” On the Simplify Debts page, check all parties you want to simplify between.
When a user clicks on a friend's name in dashboard, only the expenses including logged in user and that friend should be displayed instead of all expenses. This will help in faster tracking of balance between two members.1 vote
The dashboard already works like this.
Done! The Angolan Kwanza should show up on the web immediately, and should show up in our mobile apps after the next time you refresh. Let us know if there’s anything else we can do for you!
Initially, the splitwise had a notification flag at the top center of the window and used to get highlighted with orange color when any of my friends added a bill. It was easier to find out who added which bill in which group. It would be great if I can get to see that.1 vote
Hey Samanth! We moved the notifications list to the dashboard – you can still view it at any time by clicking “Dashboard” in the left-hand column and then looking at the top of the right-hand column. Hope that helps!
The first time we use the service, there is no friend, and if you want to fisrt add a IOU, then there is now way to continue, you have to cancel, invite friend and start over.
Be able to add friend at the last minute would be good.1 vote
You should be able to add a friend as you go through the iou process now.
Whenever i multiple bills for the same date, it'll be more intuitive if you show the bills in the order of - the most recent one at the top.
As of now, all the bills for the same date get added one after the other with the latest bill going to the bottom.1 vote
This should be how it works everywhere.
If this service were to suddenly disappear (please no!) I would have little idea of how much money people owe me or vice versa. I could be left out of pocket $100s of dollars. It would be nice if you could elect to receive periodic summaries via email of amounts owing between all of your friends (weekly, monthly etc.). This way you wouldn't have to go as far back if something were to happen to your data.1 vote
Hey Clayton – we do send out monthly summaries by default, detailing your spending for the past month and your total balances. You can turn that option on or off from your user settings page.
We’re also considering adding a weekly summary option, so if that’s something you’re interested in, let us know!
- Don't see your idea?
