Thanks for the suggestion! Yep, this definitely makes sense – right now, we auto-detect certain words like “dinner”, but we don’t do any intelligent matching based on your past expenses. I’m not sure how technically involved this would be, but I’ll add it to our list of possible improvements for the future :)

I also tend to type the name of the restaurant or electricity or water company rather than the words electricity or water. This feature would definitely enhance splitwise and make it feel even more intelligent.

We just added a very basic calculator function to our web app, so you can now use basic mathematical operations when entering a cost (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). We hope to add similar features to our mobile apps at some point in the future!

You should add this feature to any number field for example when splitting unequally.
Would be nice to have this in the splitwise mobile app as itemised bill is not implemented there.

I suggest it works like this: the feature resolves an expression i.e. 1.11+0.51+0.70/2 when leaving the field and it replaces the field with the resulting amount 1.97. There is no need to see the expression afterwards or how I got there as its purely a calculator.

I would love to see than option like this in the splitwise app. In the cafeteria we split the cost of different coffee exactly but also buy a bar of chocolate to share which would be nice if we can split the cost equally among certain participants. Right now I have to do a mental calculation or introduce two separate bills.
