We aren’t planing to add support for custom categories in the near future. We’re considering better ways to allow people to sort expenses into categories other than the ones we’ve provided. In the meantime, if there are particular important categories you feel are missing, feel free to email us with a suggestion at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Allow user to create his/her custom category in the current category list to be selected while adding a transaction. User can be able to generate category wise reports as well.

We would love to add a “this is how I like to be repaid” feature that would let you specify your favorite payment services and the IDs you use on each platform. Can’t say exactly when this will get implemented (we’re a really tiny team) but it’s on the radar. Thanks for your patience.
It will great help if you can add a field to mention the payment method used to do the payment method. Pleas note I am not talking about payment gateway integration. I am simply talking about drop down/text field to mention the payment method used for the transaction.
You can provide multiple options like :
1. Cash payment
2. Debit card payment
3. Credit card payment
4. Cheque payment
5. Online transfer
6. Using money from digital wallet like Paytm/PayPal/ Amazon Pay/ Freecharge
I know that current ‘Notes’ section can be used fo track this however it will be wonderful to have a simple drop down to select a payment method while entering any transaction. This field can also be used later for generating a report by ‘Payment Method’ type. Also, option for a user to modify this list to add/ remove payment method option can be an additional plus point for people who are using multiple debit/Credit cards.
A report can be generated using the payment method used as well in later stage.

We are currently in the process of evaluating different types of expenses and relationships with those expenses. Tracking personal expenses is something we’ve discussed and want, we just need to figure out where it fits on the schedule.
Most of the people generally struggle to find out the money which was present in wallet in form of cash.
Specially in a country like India use of money in the form of ‘Cash’ is very high.
It will be good to have feature if Splitwise can add something similar to cash ledger to track the amount of money in the form of cash.

I can definitely see how that would be useful! We’ve got a bunch of features already on our to-do list, but I’ll pass on the suggestion at our next team meeting and see if we want to add that sometime soon.
I am sure there will be many users who are using Splitwise for tracking monthly expenses. For all such users, it will be good to have feature if Splitwise memorise the ‘Description’ field history for using it quickly next time.
If you don’t want to memorise each description for every different transaction then an option can be given to user to selection which descriptions he/she would like to memorise. If there is any issue with amount of data to be stored then can have a limit of like 25 descriptions per account.

It will be great if Splitwise can add a search option for transaction. I can see two levels of search can be implemented as below:
1. Search in Global level
2. Search in group level
Along with this there can different filters you can provide like below :
1. Search by people involved
2. Search by description
3. Search by amount
4. Search by date/ date range
