Raksha Bandhan, the most important festival of Hindus, is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm all over the country. On this day sisters tie rakhi on their brother’s wrist and brothers promise to protect them from all evils.

The festival of Raksha Bandhan is a token of love, care and affection between siblings. It is an occasion for family get-togethers and celebrations where everyone has fun and excitement in abundance.

The festival of Raksha Bandhan is also known as “Rakhi Purnima” or “Rakhi Pooja”. As per the Hindu calendar, Raksha Bandhan falls on Shravan Purnima (full moon day) falling in the month of Shravan (July - August) every year. The date changes every year due to difference in lunar months as compared to solar months.

The word ‘Rakhi’ means a thread which is tied around someone's wrist or finger as a symbol of protection, love, affection and devotion towards him/her on this auspicious occasion. It may be worn by both boy and girl alike but it is always tied by sisters on their brother's wrist or arm in memory of Lord Rama's protective feelings towards.
