We currently have 2 versions of the Android app planned. Unfortunately, neither of them necessarily include tablet optimizations. The next version (likely named 2.5) will definitely not have tablet optimizations. The version after that (likely named 3.0) may have tablet optimizations if we find time.

Much more likely I will try to start doing a better job on tablets starting with releases after 3.0. Our Android experience in general is still too terrible for me to worry about trying to include tablet optimizations in the near future. I’d much rather provide a more stable, faster and better experience for everyone until the Android app is equivalent to our iPhone app than try to add tablet support before we’ve reached that goal.

I can’t really commit to any particular date on either of those releases, but I would expect to see 2.5 sometime in the next week or two.
