Updating our response since it’s been a long time since the idea was opened. Even though saving the type of unequal split feels like something that would obviously be nice to have (I certainly would use it myself every so often), it requires a change to our data structures, and is therefore a bunch of difficult work to fix, especially since it would need to be fixed separately across iPhone, Android, and web.

If you have a specific use case where not having this feature is really bothering you a lot, please email support@splitwise.com, or comment below to let us know why it’s important to you. The original poster’s meal example is clear and I’m wondering if there are other reasons why it is needed, or any easier way for us to fix it.

PLEASE IMPLEMENT THIS! "saving the type of unequal split" so it can easily be updated instead of having to re-enter from scratch.
I have all the same issues as Xand3r has commented. Unequal sharing with large groups for trip results in A LOT of editing of expenses and this is a nightmare with Splitwise. We sometimes end up using a spreadsheet before entering to splitwise because of this issue, death to the spreadsheet please!

I think the drop down UI would be a nice clean addition to the splitting expenses by shares option. I also agree with you on having it remember the previous expenses setting.

We may also use quick +/- buttons to change the number of shares.

This please "remember the last used settings of entering a bill, so that next time it defaults to that same setting."
