"equal share" option can exclude old house mates without removing them from group
I live in a co-op house with 6 housemates and 10 older house mates. Some still visit but most are no longer living with us. The number of older housemates keeps growing over time, and sometimes we add friends to splitwise to balance all sorts of expenses.
When I add an expense and select "share equally" I want it to charge only the active housemates. What happens is that it selects ALL the people in the group, and I need to manually uncheck them off until I have the group I desire. It would help if I could define a custom subgroup, such as "active housemates" or "old housemates" or even both. When I add a new expense, I will be able to select "share equally" and mark the subgroup I want. The subgroup could be defined for my account only, or I can choose to make it visible to other users in my group, so they can select it and save time as well!
This is just one idea. I have other ideas as well, will share if there's further interest. Actually I am a software developer in my profession so have lots of ideas about how to improve splitwise. I truelly think this software is awesome! If you are hiring and need help maybe we should talk because I tottaly enjoy and believe in what you guys are up to. It's soooo useful, good work! /Igal
I like the idea of the “sub-group” and see how it could be useful when it comes to bigger groups like that. I’ll bring this up at our next meeting and see if it’s something we can put on the schedule.

i.e. when group member in a group is not present at that time expenses of group is not accounted. currently we can says that similar option is available but it is terrible because in this every time when i add group expenses at that time i also deselect the member who not present. so if any feature available by that we can hold group member when he is not available than it was good for users

First of all, great app!
For example if Kunkka, Zeus, Viper and Abaddon are on holiday and on the third day Kunkka gets back home, I'd like to have Kunkka out of the standard selection of debtors without removing him from the group.
Hope it is clear. -

When splitting group expenses for communal houses, it is common for a member of the household to leave for a few weeks or months, it would be amazing to be able to keep them in the group, but automatically exclude them from expenses for a set period of time (but still retail the ability to opt them in for things like utilities and house infrastructure.

Is there any update regarding this? We had a trip with 10+ people and it was a bit annoying to select/deselect the peoples. You usually have some subgroups which share some expenses without the others. So it would be handy to be able to define sub-groups within larger groups.

Exactly what I need.
Maybe just have an option in the Group, for all members, whether or not to include them in bills by default. This way, ex-housemates can be excluded.Of course, going for gold would be the above, with 'sub-groups' or 'contact/member lists'.
