  1. Show today's balances

It would be nice to have the option to show the money owed in current day. As an example, I have a 1:1 group and there are some upcoming bills, and it only shows up the total owed money including those bills. I want to have the possibility to see how much do I owe (or get back) today, including only the bills already paid.

  2. when displaying list of "All expenses" user should be able to know to whom he borrowed/lent

currently the All expenses UI only shows the list of expenses but doesn't show to whom I borrowed/lent. To know this I need to open each expense.

Unfortunately, there’s not usually enough room on the screen to do a good job explaining who you borrowed/lent with in that list. When you’re in a group or friendship, we do break down your lending in that group/friend. I’m not sure how we would put this together in a clean way.

  3. Bug Report: % split yields error when lowering expense amount

If you enter a % split, it's stored as $ values and throws an error when you subsequently reduce the total cost.

    Steps to reproduce:
    -add a bill of > $1
-set it to a percentage split
    -confirm/accept the bill
-edit the bill and attempt to lower the price to $1
-observe that an error dialog appears complaining that the new price is less than your share of the bill

  4. Give notif when my friend logs into SW

Give me a push notif if my friend is looking at the SW app so I can message them about any outstanding bills I need them to add to the ledger.

We will probably implement messaging in the future, which would solve this. Not sure whether we’ll ever give users notifs when their friends log in — seems a little invasive?

  5. Payment to PayPal Money Pool directly from Splitwise

It would be good have the option of paying directly to PayPal Money Pool from Splitwise. This way when a Money Pool is created in PayPal and an invoice in Splitwise is created to contribute towards Money Pool, users will be able to settle it through Splitwise and it will be a smooth settlement.

  6. Add categories for each individual itemized item

When you scan a receipt you may have gone to a store and bought multiple categories of things, like groceries and household goods. You should be able to indicate which items on a receipt are which category.

Thanks for your suggestion! We’re always adding support for different languages and formats to make Splitwise more accessible to people across the globe. This sounds like something we might do in the future.

  11. keep doing what you're doing!

hey guys just letting you know that splitwise is probably the best thing that happened to us in terms of software this year!

my boyfriend and i started using splitwise to manage our expenses for our apartment, and loved it. it soon migrated to their office, where about 10 people now form a group and use it regularly.

now we use it in our friendship circles as well and we know at least one other sharehouse is on board.

splitwise has made living, working and hanging out together easy and has taken the stress out of money issues, as well…

    Hey Amelia,

Thank you for the kind feedback – it’s honestly a pleasure to hear that Splitwise has been so helpful to you!

We definitely are planning to do both better emails and SMS-based alerts and invitations for the non smart phone users and for people who like that method of doing things.

Just one clarification: do you mean a non-smartphone way to add bills (like an SMS version of quick add) on the go? We haven’t planned on that yet, so if that’s the suggestion, please write back and let us know.

    Cheers and thanks!
    Jon

  13. Export to CSV should not include expenses that have been settled

Should only include expenses added after latest 0 point.

I can see how this would be helpful. However, I think we’d prefer to spend effort on making sure the in-app balance/expense display is perfect — it seems like you should never even need to download your CSV if you totally trust and can understand Splitwise. That said, we’ll keep this idea on our radar for next time we think about these advanced features.
