Insert a grand total for all expenses for a group
It would be nice to see a grand total of all expenses for individual groups. I realize this can be done by exporting the data then adding it up, but it just seems like an inefficient process that can be eliminated by inserting a simple sum function.
Group totals exist as a feature on both iOS and Android, and on the website, you can see totals in a group by going to “View printable summary” from the month header above your expenses in the list, and choosing “all time” as the date range on the top right corner.

By following the above steps, I only get to see the total each individual member owes/gets back. However, I would like to see the total sum of expenses the group had as a whole.
There doesn't seem to be a way to do that easily, other than exporting the csv file and calculating the sum with Excel

For example I have a group and it has two members, app should show me the total expenses done as of now. I have created a group Home expenses where me and my brother contribute equally in case we want to know the total expenditure done for a period of time we do not have that option.
Also if the expenses can be grouped under time period it would come very handy. In the above example if I want to see the total expenses in the month of June 2020 I dont have an option to do so.

When trying to view charts, it shows a breakdown by category, but not the total expense. The total would help me understand how much is being spent on certain groups, like tracking expenses in a trip.

I'm viewing the printable summary for my group, but there's no group total. The top chart only shows total balances, and the individual charts only show totals for "You paid", "Your share", and "Balance".

My friends and I frequently use Splitwise to track and split travel expenses, and we frequently want to know how much the trip cost in total. I currently do this by exporting to a spreadsheet and summing the "Cost" column. It would be great if it was shown somewhere in the UI.
Would be really great to be able to see this in the app as well! And not just in the csv summary but as an interactive breakdown
I agree. Sometimes there are balances spread over several months that need to be settled.
When I see printable summary for my group apartment, I should be able to know that in a current month , how much I have spent in total presently it only show how much you owe etc. and also category wise like entertainment , groceries other.
This could help me to record my expenses and manage them in a better way.
Yes I know you can export them as spreadsheet...but it would be easier and clearer to export them as PDF.

Trips may span month boundaries. It would be nice to have for trip-based "groups" to be able to show the summary info for the whole trip, rather than only month-by-month.
