The only thing at the moment I would suggest is add chat feature in Splitwise group so quick chat and settlement. So that no need to WhatsApp group members on the breakup of expenses.

I guess adding a short messaging option in the groups will be really helpful. Short messages help information flow in the group. Sometimes the talk is not about any particular transaction but just a general one. For example, when I wanted everyone to add their payment info on the whiteboard, I needed to add a transaction of 1 Rupee and write read important as the name of the expense and explain it all in the comments. Which brings me to the second suggestion to add a feature where the group members can store their payment info which would be very convenient while settling.

I was added to a group and want to send everyone a message, but don't have access to a quick chat feature. Will need to pull the individual email addresses from the group names because while I spent a weekend with these folks, I don't actually know all of them. Would be great if I could quickly send a note to all the participants w/in the app so they quickly have context. Will end up screen capping the totals and adding to the email I am going to send.

There should be the feature of chat in the groups!

First of all, great app/website. A group of us used it recently to track shared costs for a few days away over the New Year. I hope you are achieving your goals financially - if that's a priority.

I haven't found an obvious way to send a message to the group that we created. Is this possible? If it is, it seems "un-obvious". If It's not supported, I think it would be a very good use case to take a look at.

A simple Chat Option within a group so that members can discuss , what they want to buy like food items and others .

And further can keep track for the same.

This would help to initiate the settle up and share other messages related to the transactions in groups, using Splitwise itself. For example, if one user in a group feels that if the amount he/she gets back or borrowed is sufficiently large, he/she could communicate with others in the group via the group message service on Splitwise and initiate the transaction.

As of now, the user has to rely on other messenger services to communicate with the groups.

Its really a great app.. First of all, this feedback feature is good. I wanted to suggest few more features that will be useful for the app users and the app it self too.
1.) There should be a section for sharing not only expenses but also the pics shot while the trips, that can help preserve the memorable moments. This will really increase the domain of split as well, as more users find this funful and would join it and make it more social app.
2.) that would be great, if there is a section to add our messages along with the expenses. This also help in socialising more. bring people together. It would be fantastic if the app really help send messages like whatsapp, or any other messaging app. then we will be sharing the expenses as well as our thoughts in our group.
3.) That would really be nice if a person or, if possible, a family could save their monthly expenses, from large to very small expenses, altogether in one place here and manipulate their budget(monthly/yearly) accordingly.

I am a web developer and have keen interest in developing and realizing the ideas(like the one, splitwise, that you have made a real one).

Is this feature still planned? Is there any way to post Notes?

E.g. I want to leave a note for my roommate to charge me for the rent (I forget the exact amount, so i want to leave it as a TODO for now)

It would be great for me, as the group owner who manages the month to month expenses, to be able to send an announcement to every person in that group as a push notification. This would include any unexpected expenses, any reminders, or just general announcements.

I support this idea, and look forward to its inclusion in the future!

It would be better if there is an option to post general announcements for a group. eg: "Please check if all payments are ok", "Few more bills to be added, the group will be updated by tomorrow" or to post the account details of someone so that the payer can go ahead with an online transaction.

Adding a "Note" would be the same logic as adding a bill, only the value would be 0 and it would carry some different aesthetic to differentiate itself from the rest of the items in the list. If you want help developing it, please contact me. Always looking for new opportunities. :)
