Be able to say someone paid you in cash even if they are the one that owes you money
Basically if a person owes you money and you simply want to record that the payment took place, you should be able to on your end say they paid you in cash (or by some other means).
i.e. Person B owes me money. I paid for X dollars for the bill and they owed half. Person B paid me in cash (or some other means other than paypal), but hasn't marked that they have done so on Splitwise. I would like to be able to say they paid me in cash without necessarily have to wait for them to indicate as such.
Again this is essentially for record keeping.

You should be able to do this already – just click the “Settle up” button on the web and choose “Record a cash payment”. You can specify who paid who and how much, even if the person paying isn’t you, and that payment will be added to your account.

You cannot do this in Android app. I logged into my browser and I was able to change the party paying cash.

I'd hope to see a better way of allowing payments from people you owe
money to. E.g. I owe someone $1000 for a flight ticket, but they are fine
with me paying it back in two months once I get my bonus. In the meantime,
I bought a $200 item for them, which they are reimbursing me for. As it
stands, there's no way to easily record that reimbursement from them, the
app assumes that I need to zero out my balance with them first, then do a
loan and payment. I've gotten around it by 'Lending them $200' and when
they pay me, they 'Lend' me $200. The net effect is that the balance
remains -$1000 in their favor, as expected. It's a workaround that works,
but kind of clutters the page with 'loans' that aren't really loans. -

I agree with Nicole's comment from 11/25/14. On the app, when you click "Settle Up' there is no option to "record a cash payment" ?

I would like to be able to add cash payment for a previous month. Some stuff got messed up in out billing, and now we're trying to rectify past billing without starting from scratch, by adding a month a year ago, settling up, adding the next month, settling up, and so forth. I would just to add "cash paid to BLANK by BLANK without having to "Settle Up". As in someone paid me cash in the past, it was never recorded, or associate with a bill.

When I click "Settle Up" for someone that has paid me in cash, it doesn't give the option to "record a cash payment" it just says save- when I click save it shows up in my expense record, but doesn't change the balance, it still says balance owed. Is this because this payment is not part of a group? (it was, then I could record the payment, and once that was done, I deleted the group because we were zero'd out and the balance immediately shot back up like I hadn't recorded a payment). Or does the payee need to record the cash payment on his end before the balance will update? or is it none of the above and a glitch? Either way, I can't get get the balance to update and it still shows that he owes me money when he doesn't.
