provide option to disable venmo and/or paypal
I don't have venmo, and paypal repayments are a pain. If I could disable both so that my friends don't attempt to repay me with them, it would be very nice. Obviously this is an option that I set on my account that affects what other people see when they go to 'settle up'.
Hey there – very sorry for the trouble! We would love to add a “this is how I like to be repaid” feature that would let you specify your favorite payment services and the IDs you use on each platform. Can’t say exactly when this will get implemented (we’re a really tiny team) but it’s on the radar. Thanks for your patience.

Was this ever implemented? Occasionally people try to pay me through venmo but I don't have a venmo account with my splitwise email.

Please include some way of choosing which payment options I accept. After 11 years of Venmo, I recently had to close my account because they couldn't verify my account. However, people are still settling up with me using Venmo, even though my account it closed. That money is held for a month until it's refunded to the original sender.

I completely resolved my question when I read this post, thanks to the author for the very detailed description. I wrote my review on the https://bit.ly/3yCUgQX, you can go in and read. Thank you very much for your attention in your time.

Option to disconnect Venmo.
I no longer have access to my old cell number and want to disconnect Venmo, but, I don’t see any such option. Please disconnect so that any payment doesn’t go to a wrong person.

Please add an option for those posting bills to limit which repayment methods can be used.
It's great that Splitwise integrates with so many different payment options but it is untenable for many of us to have to maintain an account on every platform, particularly when repayment of an expense gets split among several places.

Any progress. PayPal is the worst. Can I just unlike PayPal from my Splitwise account. I am surprised that you are in business with PayPal aka the worst company on planet earth.

Any progress on that? I don't have a paypal account, but splitwise allows people to pay me through paypal and I can't reject the payment or access the money. Please address this issue. At the very least an option to mark it as "this payment didn't go through" or SOMETHING. please.

$1000 sent to a PayPal email that I don’t even use! I had to cancel and refund the payment and ask the other person to send me via bank transfer! You need to let us choose or disable payment options!

Hi, I just had money sent to an inactive account, and I now have to waste my time trying to get it set up. I will not be using splitwise again as you have wasted my time and money.

This bites me every month for the organization I run: someone pays me via Venmo and then I have to do a whole dance to transfer the money from my personal venmo to my personal account to the organization's Paypal account. It's a huge hassle and would be a simple fix, thank you!

I don't use Venmo. I don't want Venmo. I do have PayPal. My colleague sent the payment to Venmo, which requires me to have to set up a Venmo account. I am now irritated. I want a way to establish a payment preference for PayPal, or directly to a bank account, etc. This is a UX problem.

Hi guys,
we love your app and always use it together with my team for our team-trips.
One thing. It's not for me but in general. I find it somewhat surprising that if the money is transferred via PayPal to somebody who doesn't have PayPal , there is no notification to the one sending the money. Would be nice to NOT have PayPal option for those who don't use PayPal to avoid this confusion and speed up the payments. I realise that you don't actually check if the person has a PayPal account, but maybe you could add a flag in Settings that would forbid PayPal in case other payment method is preferred?
This would be super nice.Cheers,

Please add this, so much re-work when people try to pay me with a method I don't accept.

I agree!!! I don't know why it's an option for people that don't use it. We love using Splitwise as our group always travels together and it's great for splitting expenses. But very few of us use Venmo, and we tell everyone we don't use it, then they are prompted to use Venmo. They send money, we never get it and they have to go through the hassle on contacting Venmo to see where their money is. It's happened several times and it shouldn't even be an issue in the first place if we could just turn that option off.

Just adding my own two cents (which are stuck in PayPal purgatory), that I'd love to see an option to disable the PayPal connection or to have a note of payment preference.
Other than this, I do love the app. -

It will great help if you can add a field to mention the payment method used to do the payment method. Pleas note I am not talking about payment gateway integration. I am simply talking about drop down/text field to mention the payment method used for the transaction.
You can provide multiple options like :1. Cash payment
2. Debit card payment
3. Credit card payment
4. Cheque payment
5. Online transfer
6. Using money from digital wallet like Paytm/PayPal/ Amazon Pay/ FreechargeI know that current ‘Notes’ section can be used fo track this however it will be wonderful to have a simple drop down to select a payment method while entering any transaction. This field can also be used later for generating a report by ‘Payment Method’ type. Also, option for a user to modify this list to add/ remove payment method option can be an additional plus point for people who are using multiple debit/Credit cards.
A report can be generated using the payment method used as well in later stage.
Feel free to contact me on this on number +91-8087678591. I can work as a Beta tester for this improvement.

For me, this would be the single best improvement for splitwise right now.

^ would be handy.
While I'm here, PayPal is a nightmare. It'd be *super helpful* to be able to disable PayPal for groups to stop people accidentally using it to send money. The trouble is, PayPal then hold onto that money for ages. It's a huge problem when you're sending large amounts.

I second this suggestions. I would like the option to remove or disconnect my Venmo account from my Splitwise account.
