Expense Check
When person A adds expense & splits with person B, then B should be able to mark it checked when satisfied/verified the expense. so that B reviews only other expense next time. The check mark should be unchecked if there is change or update in the checked expense. This is helps a lot when tracking expense in group that are added over a period of time.
2 votesHi there,
I apologize, but I’m going to decline your request. I can understand why some people would want explicit confirmations, but this is a very core decision we made long ago and confirmations are too clunky for Splitwise.
Recent Activity is our answer to seeing what has changed. If you have an ideas/issues with the way Recent Activity works, please post it as a suggestion or email support with questions.

Search group by group owner id
It would be great if there is an option to search group and send request to the group for joining, rather than group owner adding everybody to the group.
2 votesThanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, we consider this a security risk, since it would allow you to view the names of any groups that your friends belong to. (For example, many people use their address as the name of their group, so this might allow you to look up someone’s home address without their permission.) For now, you’ll have to ask an existing group member to either (a) add you to the group manually or (b) send out the group share link, which allows anyone to join the group by following a special link. Sorry for the trouble!

add sub coloumn.
if in a group I add groceries then there should be area to add individual items so that everyone can see distribution of total. life if total is 100 then inside should also show 30 for milk 60 for bread and 10 for sauce. thanks
2 votesThanks for the suggestion! We do have a feature like this on our website (“itemized bills”), but unfortunately we don’t have any plans to add that feature on mobile right now. We’ve tried designing it, but it always feels like way too much work to add tons of individual items on a mobile device, where there’s less space onscreen and typing is more difficult. For now, your best solution on mobile is probably to include information about the items that you split in the expense notes, or to attach a picture of the receipt to the expense. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Ask to update the total when the sum is different when splitting unequally.
When we go to lunch we always split the bill unequally. The problem is, the time I enter the amount of each person I don't know the total amount to pay. This forces us to calculate the total amount first then entering the amount for each person. It would be very handy for us that the application to ask updating the total if the sum does not match instead of refusing to save.
2 votesI’m not sure if this is applicable as a use case for Splitwise. Splitwise is designed for people who want to “split” a shared expense, which assumes the existence of a single expense that must be broken down into shares that each person owes.
Are you getting separate cheques at lunch and then adding them up? If that is the case then you should probably be adding those as separate expenses.
I’d love to hear more about what your exact use case is.

Comment
It will be better if we can upload a picture of bill in comment section. So that anyone from group can cross check if he/she want. It actually needed when u r not that much familiar with your friend ( new friend or classmates ).
2 votesThanks for the suggestion! You can add a receipt image when you’re creating or updating an expense, which should handle this scenario.

Ability to send a splitwise contact to others
You've been there before! Someone in the group pays the bill for the furst time but doesn't have the details of all othe other members. This would help to quickly send and receive contacts and add them as friend.
2 votesThis is an area that is well supported via email or SMS already that would not make sense for Splitwise to add specific additional support for.

Hi, do we have an option to export as spreadsheet monthwise?
Since we calculate expenses monthwise, this will give a good overview of expenses incurred every month. Also it's easy to calculate if amongst number of people.
2 votesThanks for the suggestion! We do have export to spreadsheet that does the whole time period for the account. This would be pretty simple to split into months in excel or something similar. We also have (in groups on the web only) a PDF summary for each month that you can export from the expense list.

Pin/Star a particular expense for quick reference
Pin/star a particular expense which can be accessed quickly for reference later something similar to the whatsapp star message feautre.
This pinned/star expense can be accessible either specific to the group or universally on homepage.
2 votesThis would move the expense out of its order based on when it occurs. Many people would forget to unpin it and it would cause a lot of confusion among users.

To enable something like you can read my text messages for expenses and push a notification to spilt of i want
This would help me spilt expenses without a fail, I will never forget if a notification is triggered as soon as I spend somewhere
2 votesWhile this would be a useful feature the ability to read text messages is not available on all platforms and many people are concerned about privacy. Far too many users would be upset at the new permission request.

Dashboard friends order change
First Show ppl with debits/credits alphabetically then show ppl with settled debits alphabetically.
Sometimes our list goes big and we have scroll down a lot to see ppl with debits or credits2 votesThanks for the feedback! We don’t plan to change the ordering on that screen, but you should be able to show people you owe and owe you by tapping on the header of the friends list on mobile.

Track the amount of unequal splits in cents
When the bill is 10 divided among 3, the expense is splitted as 3.33, 3.33 and 3.34 randomly. if i edit the expenses and add a comment, it changes the person paying 3.34. so I would suggest a change in algo that tracks who has paid more cents each time so that in the next expense, he has to pay 1 cent less.
2 votesWe think that over a period of time, choosing a random person every time to assign the extra pennies to leads to a more fair result. If you feel like one of your friends is being assigned pennies more often than others, simply tap edit expense and hit save without changing anything.

Workaround for customised category limitation
Dear splitwise team,
I have read feedback of different people requiring customised category by app user, which is not possible at the moment. Although you are adding new categories at request of masses.
My suggestion is that, is it possible if you let us edit the name of already existing categories at least, as a workaround?
2 votesThanks for your suggestion! I appreciate the idea. Unfortunately, this workaround still presents the same issues we have when considering whether or not to add custom categories. Please let us know if you have any categories you’d like us to add. Apologies for the inconvenience!

I can see the uploaded images for an expense that I previously added
I can see the uploaded images for an expense that I previously added. Wouldn't it make more sense if this option should be like a basic thing like a part CRUD operations
2 votesThanks for writing in! Deleted expenses can be undeleted so those images need to stick around.

extend Splitwise to support tracking bets with friends :-)
Probably more an idea for Sportsbet, but why can't I record bets with friends and the outcome then becomes a transaction?
2 votesThere isn’t any restriction on adding betting results to Splitwise.

email notifications
Please stop forcing me to send emails to people when I want to track who I owe money to. The fact that I MUST send an email to someone before I can track something is invasive. You have a great app, but that part is a show stopper. Dont' MAKE people send emails. The fact that I track who I owe money to using an app on my iphone should be my choice to share, not a pre-req.
1 voteSplitwise is, at it’s core, a communication and fairness tool, not a private ledger. If you really want to keep a private ledger, add a group with your self and another person and simply leave the email blank when you add the other person.

provide option for user ids also
Instead of inserting email id everytime you can also create user names, email id should be mandatory for the first time for verifing after that user can login using their Usernames also
1 voteI’m not completely sure what you mean here, but I’m assuming you want the ability to add use nicknames for use in the app to add them to expenses? You should already be able to search by name in the fields to add expenses and it should find friends already on Splitwise first.

Add Washington State Tax based on location.
Some how make this work inside the system. For Andriod.
http://dor.wa.gov/content/findtaxesandrates/salesandusetaxrates/lookupataxrate/
1 voteHi Yazz,
This seems way out of scope for us. We generally expect people to put in the total amount after tax for expenses. Where would we use the tax?

Itemised bill with unequal sharing
Hi,
Currently when we divide a bill in itemised mode, the shares are put up equally for each participant, but it is not the case always. We also need an option to unequally split inside an itemised bill. Can you address that?
1 voteWe don’t have plans to add unequal shares to itemized billing – it’s a pretty uncommon case, and we haven’t been able to come up with an interface for it that we consider “good enough”.
If you’d like to include unequally split items, you can try adding them as individual expenses, separate from the itemized bill. I realize that’s not ideal, though. Sorry for the trouble!

Make the person who created the expense the only one who can delete it
It happened to me, someone deleted an expense and it didn't even give me a notification. And there is no history that I know of, so I could not restore.

WP8 client tip calc whole $
Tip.calc needs to show whole number and calc based on that. Currently the slider moves through unknown % for a given tip.
1 voteThe WP8 client is a third-party, unofficial app – it’s not maintained by the Splitwise team. You should send your suggestion to the developer of Splittr, Miron Vranjes, at splittr@mironv.com or @MironV. Cheers!
