we recently completed a trip abroad and our credit card company adds a surcharge for use abroad of 1.75% - It would be great if we could have optionally selected that for CC charges.
Thanks for the suggestion! I can see how this would be useful, though I’m not immediately sure of the best way to include it in our design. I’ll pass on this suggestion at a future team meeting and add it to our list of possible improvements.
I am planning on using Split Wise as a hub for running our apartment.
It would be nice to have a small communal document area to store some of our agreements. As an example, I would like to upload a roommate agreement that was signed by all of the roommates.1 vote
Thanks for the suggestion! I think it’s unlikely that we’ll do this – we really want to focus on just the expense sharing problem. If we get a lot of votes here, we’ll reconsider this.
The "simplify debts" setting should lock down once people start making payments. Alternatively, the person that created the group should be the only person able to change this setting.
Friends and I just had the issue where a large group of us were almost done settling up, but one person turned the setting off, made several payments, and affected people that were already done paying. They now owe more money somehow.1 vote
Thanks for the feedback! This makes a lot of sense. We currently lock simplify debts when someone has settled up and then left a group, but I can see how this case is problematic as well.
Give proper steps or GRAPH on how the debt is shuffled across the members in a group.
If this feature is already , please let me know ....1 vote
We plan on creating a sweet animated shuffling graph in the near future!
Now when I view IOUs/bill listings b/w any friend and me, I am only able to view the value of that particular bill, but not the cumulative cost (till that point). The only cumulative number I find is at the top of the page, but that is not helpful in case I want to find out how that number came about over different months. Plus, of course, the graph view only works for the current month! It'd be great if you could address these issues ASAP.1 vote
We’ve gotten some recent requests for the cumulative amount of peoples tabs lately. I think this is a great idea, and one that we’ll be discussing on how to implement in the near future.
We do also plan on letting our users see the history of our graphs in the future also.
Thanks for the suggestion. I clarified it so other users could find and support it and we’ll pass it on in our next planning meeting.
An option to treat the group as an entity such that instead of being told I owe person x report back that I owe the group (or the group owes me)
I don't need to see suggestions of who I pay back, because I will be paying to the group next time I pay for something.1 vote
I’ll pass on the suggestion! For now, you should be able to do this by just ignoring the suggested repayments, and only paying attention to your total group balance. Apologies for the trouble!
Thanks for the suggestion. Currently printable monthly summaries and statistics are only available on our website. I’m leaving this under review to see how many other users would appreciate this feature.
I have a big list of people and selecting people involved in a bill is a pain in the butt to me, as I have to scroll down and painstakingly look at all the ones. I suggest that if you have several columns ( as in a grid with all the people) it will be so much easy to check the people involved and check my checks as-well.1 vote
We’re going to be redoing the add expense stuff on the website soon and should be able to do this better with the new version.
visual or display differentiation on activities between added & updated activities or group the expenses as tree & all updates under it
User interface - Display of added and updates activities1 vote
Thanks for the feedback! Can you give us some more context on why you want this change? We do list them differently, so some help understanding what problem you’re having would be great.
Add a section where I can add the login info for all out utility provider websites and landlord contact data.
The whiteboard is much too small1 vote
Great idea! We’d love to help facilitate logins to Utility providers, but for security reasons, we plan to add some additional layers of security (optional PIN login, stronger password controls, and external auditing) before we provide anything that should be good enough for storing login data securely. For now, I would not recommend storing login data or account details in any of the data entry fields on Splitwise.
When I settle up with my roommates, we usually settle up at the same time. When we do, I often get a barrage of notifications and email, one or more of each from all my roommates.
It would be great to get a single email with all of the transactions from the last 24 hours (or 12 hours, or 1 hour...) instead of a barrage of emails, or at least be able to snooze or modify my email notification settings.
Thanks for the suggestion, and sorry for the trouble! We’d like to do better digest emails at some point (like our monthly summary, but for weekly or daily updates), but we just haven’t gotten around to it yet :) For now, if you’d like to turn off some of the emails you’re getting, you can change your notification preferences from your account settings page. Hope that helps!
In Android app there is a 'Group spending summary' screen where I can select 'All time' mode and see how much did the trip cost to me.
In the WEB app this screen shows data only for one month at a time that is inconvenient if trip didn't fit in a single month. Please, add 'All time' mode to WEB app.1 vote
Thanks for the feedback! I don’t expect we’ll be revisiting the trends view on the web app soon, but this does seem like a useful improvement.
Eg. If A and B paid 2500 and 1500 for Deposit (of anything) and B takes back the entire 4000, Then B owes A - 2500.1 vote
Thanks for the suggestion! I definitely see how this would be useful for apartments and rentals, where deposits can be a pain to figure out.
it allows me to delete one by one that too it take me to individual sheet eveyrtime. Kindly suggest if there is any easy wayaround1 vote
We’re planning to revisit that UI soon and this problem should go away in one of our upcoming versions. Unfortunately, until then, there’s no good workaround. You could submit a support ticket with details of which expenses you want undeleted and we may be able to do them all at once.
Currently we have Bar Chart. I would be better if we have Pie Chart Over there. It will be convenient for Viewing also.1 vote
I share this app for the flat with my boyfriend and it would be useful to have a simpel list with all the expanses that we have, to know at the end of the month how much we spent.
Within this list it would be great to be abel to put the expanses into different categories and give them different colours therefor.1 vote
I’m curious, what kind of categorization are you looking at? We already support categorizing expenses by type – entertainment, food & drink, home, life, transportation etc with lots of subcategories.
If you have a request for specific category to be added, you can reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
I un-deleted an expense yesterday but was a bit confused when I saw the button still appearing in the activity page. Maybe removing the button (I totally understand the logic for keeping the deletion activity in tact) would be great and not so confusing :)1 vote
Hey Estelito – that definitely makes sense! I’ll add this to our list of to-dos for the web app. (I believe our iPhone and Android apps already work this way, so hopefully we can catch up the web app soon.)
When purchasing online or through apps, for Food, Groceries or any other ecommerce or shopping apps, directly provide a sdk for the apps to split the amount and easy access for the people splitting. Many a times people forget that they had paid for a group treat and then when re adding they have to check through bank statements or orders to know the exact amount. Splitting then and there would make it easier.1 vote
Thanks for the suggestion! We’ve considered doing something like this, I’ll leave this open for further voting for now. Thanks again!
Hire servers in or near Asia so that it is easier for the app to push/pull transactions. In China we had lots of trouble syncing bills.
The internet that we had was 'ok'. It could play youtube videos at 144p, so transaction syncing should not be a problem then right?
Anyway maybe increase the time-out for http requests.
All the best!1 vote
Thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately, neither of these are simple things due to how our infrastructure currently works. China is also a challenging environment because of how it connects to the internet for the rest of the world. Hopefully we’ll be able to improve this in the future.
