Settle Up Option for Receiver only
For any group expense, the "Settle Up" option should be allowed only to the receiver of that amount. In a group, this option creates confusion at times because the payer and receiver both can settle up simultaneously.
We think it’s pretty important that either the payer or the receiver can add a payment to Splitwise, as we’ve found that people use both methods quite frequently.
However, we do hope to add better support for preventing duplicate payments in the future – i.e. if you and a friend both add payments for the same amounts within a few minutes of each other, we could potentially show you a warning when you try to add the second payment.

The question is about the "Settle up" option. The answer from Splitwise is about adding payments.
An option for a Splitwise group to allow only the receiver to settle up is a great idea. -

If A owes 1000₹ to B.
then only A should be given the access to "settle up" button.
B should not be able to settle up via cash payment.
this creates fraud. -

It would be great if only the money lender have the access settle up the payments rather then both ways to settle up & too avoid unnecessary complications.

The app should allow to be settled only once. Every member of the group should not be able to settle, that effects the balance to be paid.
Presently, a particular settlement can be done by each member of the group, even after settlement thereby decreasing the amount owed by another group member. -

Both the parties are able to settle up. App should be able to detect whether the transaction is already settled up.

There us option to settle down the payment by both sender and receiver of money but it should be done only by receiver.

In some cases the sender is not transferring the amount which he suppose to send but simply pressing the settle up button which brings loss to the receiver. So I put an idea to have an Agree button in receiver side to accept the settlement.

The Person who is owed money should be the one to settle-up the expenses, once they are received by him/her. Sometimes by accident or intentionally someone settles the expenses owed by them to others. Also to avoid people from adding false expenses others should get an option to accept/decline the expenses added by others i.e if they are a part of the said expense.

when payer has paid money or not paid still he can click on settle up button. this is a bug. settle up button should be active only for recipient so that he can confirm it once he receives money.
