Automatically enter bill based on SMS
Create an entry in a defaut group regarding an expense based on the SMS of transaction.
Thanks for the suggestion, this is an interesting idea! We’ll leave it under review for now.

Bumping this since it's been 3.5 years and I think it would be a great addition to the app. I keep getting alerts for all my spends through SMS and even if it was something like long pressing the $ amount in a text message and adding it to Splitwise, to start off, it would be a huge help

The zapier integraton unfortunately doesn't address this unless I get all my service providers to get on the same platform.

Some of my recurring variable payments generate a successful transaction notification eg. my utilities company for power and water. It would be great if Splitwise can somehow read those notifications and add expense entries. Thank you.

The scenario in my mind:
1- I select a text from another app screen, long press on it, go to Share and, right from there, I see the option to share the selected text to Splitwise.
2- Then, Splitwise could paste the shared text right on the Quick-add screen, allowing the user to edit it as desired and choose the group where that given expense would be added.

What's the status on this? This has been in review for past 3 years. This would be very cool feature, especially in India where UPI has emerged as default payment option for small offline store transactions

Automatically detect payment receipt sms and ask the user to add the expenditure to splitwise.
Like if i payed for a meal in zomato, i will receive a receipt sms. So if you able to detect the same and ask the user to add the same as an expenditures in splitwise, it will be more helpfull -

Hi, I would really like to see a feature which eould make it possible to quickly create a transaction/prefill the new transaction form based on some notifications on mobile.
We as family regularly adding common expenses which are all having notifications via some other app. When a notification from a predifened/warched app arrives splitwise may also send a notification which would open a new transaction window with prefilled amount parsed from text(or a drop down to select from all parsed numbers from original notification). A bonus may be to pre-assign a category for a notification from a specific app (which could be changed on screen of course). -

Adding all the expenses manually can be tiring and cumbersome. Do this to automate the process and make it much faster. Read bank sms, take the amount and show notifications to add this in splitwise with just one click. As a result, user does not forgets to add expenses and can do it very fast.

I usually spend on behalf of my friends who settle up periodically. Reviewing the spends and entering into Splitwise usually takes a couple of hours every month. I mostly rely on Walnut to enter spends. Walnut reads my SMS to extract spends. Walnut has in fact began to move into the domain by Splitwise by adding an expensive splitting feature. I don't want to move from Splitwise. However, this is a pain point that needs to be solved. Splitwise should allow me to review recent spends based on sms, and provide a bulk ui for entering spends into groups and splitting with friends. This would be the kind of time saving enhancement that would make PRO attractive.

Every card payment / internet Banking generates a sms / notification, so it will good feature if Splitwise automatically reads the notification to extracts the amount and also based on categories assigns it to appropriate matching categories already available (household, grocery etc). Thank you for developing such a good app it saves lots of effort
