Make Payment/Bill Due Date Sub Totals (Due now, Due next week, Upcoming bills etc.)
Make it possible to add bills and set the due date for payments, then display a sub total of overdue payments.
Currently overdue bills are grouped into the total for bills that will be paid in the future. It would be great if the bill owner could set a due date for the bills, so the payees could then see a sub total of overdue bills, bills coming up, and total bills owed. This could be achieved with a filter on the web app, and integrated into the phone apps later.
Reminders could then also be automated, and much more specific, and it would make the payment summary pages much more organised.

Add an optional date as deadline for any expense. Which can be useful to keep track when to ask or pay the bill and you can send notifications on an interval basis about such expenses.

Add option to settle up the account automatically at the beginning of each month or given date or at a given frequency
Add option to remind or set a "soft" deadline. This should make sure that balances are settled more frequently to avoid member resentment.

i want to settle bills every week or month or fortnightly with my friends.. we should have a way to set up a reminder on weekly basis with a notification to all.. sharing the due amounts.. also, if we can set up a limit to which a person can owe us it would be nice..

Wow. Almost 6 years later and still no "due date" option?

Due date will help setting the bills quickly

I add bills to Splitwise when I receive them, but my roommates can't see when they're due unless they log in to the website from their computer. I would love it if you could see due dates at a glance in the app!

Many of my bills come with two dates -- the date that the statement was issued, and the date that the payment is due. It would be nice to be able to record both in Splitwise.

Any movement on this? Obviously there's a need here.

i use splitwise for one time bills, what is your suggestion for that?

Totally fair comments here - one of the biggest issues we have is for bills that haven't been paid yet, and reminders on them. It's just hard to make the user interface clear about which bills are included in what totals, and having everything always be included at least makes it clear.
In any case, thanks for your patience while we figure out how to best model this and/or import the bill status from the biller.

Allow for users to send a reminder about a single debt/bill that is coming up or overdue instead of the entire debt that they owe you.
For example, if I split bills with my roommate and we have 3 bills, 2 of which are upcoming, but 1 is due now. I want to be able to send them a reminder about that single bill, ideally without having to restructure/rewrite the email that you could send by sending a reminder of the total of all 3 bills.

BTW, "post a bill only once the posted date for the bill has arrived" could be solved by implementing this (and it has 23 votes! :)

Agree with Jim. Adding payments in the future is great to keep track of things, but currently it cripples the ability to settle up (splitwise thinks I ALREADY owe that much money), so I have to rely on monthly reports. It works, but it sucks a little bit. :D

@ Jim P: Really hoping that feature get added asap too, as it would definitely make paying priority bills much easier.

This would be SO helpful! Currently, when I look at all my bills, I can't tell what "So and So" paid for when they made a payment. It would be excellent to see what bills have been paid and which ones are still outstanding (perhaps with a "paid" check box).

Even without the dates, just being able to add a bill that has not yet been paid would be useful.
