Bank account details somewhere/anywhere
Hi. Liking this service so far.
Its nice keeping track of debts, however, it is not much use not knowing how to pay it. (Not everyone uses paypal).
In UK and Australia, someone just needs bank account details to do a transfer. Would be nice either to have one or all of the following:
My own account details available for my friends to see. Even if not in their own fields, maybe in a "other info" memo type field.
Or be able to put my own comments on my friends so I can make a note of their account details. (or if I think they arent good at paying back)
When the expense is added... to explicitly send a custom email out to the involved people with my bank account details
I understand that it can be hard trying to look at expenses from different granularities, ie "how much in total do I owe this person" vs "how much is owed for this expense" vs "how much for this group for this person"
Keep up the good work!
Storing bank account #s is unfortunately tricky, as there are some serious security concerns around bank #s here in the US and in some other countries. Still, we’d like to do it if possible. It’s not on our roadmap yet, but we’re definitely considering it for the future.

instead of having bank account no section, have a section to enter notes.bthe individual can enter any detail about him like bank acc no, preferred payment method etc. so security will not be a concern here.

Hi, great app! Just a suggestion,
I've read:
How do I connect Splitwise to my bank account? NO...And I unsderstand we don't use money here but what about a simple "temporal solution" like adding a bank account text input in "my account"?
Not having this here makes everyone in the groups send message via other app.

I wish you could add your bank account details so others who do not already have the details can grab them from Splitwise

I would like to send a Custom notification or be able to add my bank account information so I won't need to send another message indicating where to pay.

It'd be nice if I can add a bit of text to my profile so other people can see how they can transfer email to me. (e.g. if I prefer Paypal, or bank transfers).

User should be able to link up payment accounts (bank accounts or paypal). Splitwise may do a validation to verify the credibility of the payment account. On account setup the user may have the flexibility to settle their expenses automatically on a given day. Say for example all the 5 users in the group decide to automatically settle up on 29th of each month. Splitwise will do the same automatically, freeze the ledger for that month and then send auto notification to the users for verification. Users can verify and adjust anything on the next bill or out of splitwise (i.e. individually or personally)

Let people add their account number, so you have that information.
People put their account number after their name now so it's visual for friends. -

why can't you just allow the email template to be edited so that we can send the email and include bank details?

In the personal configuration could have the option to share the bank account information so the person could transfer the money easily

Hi, I don't know about law in certain countries, but if it is the own user who saves this data in his profile and there is a disclaimer about it, it would be enough. Maybe you should storage that data encrypted in your database, too, but that's it.
Best!

After each party/event where friends gather and after all the expenses were filled in the app, the payment of debts starts. But what do you do if there is a new person in the group and you don't know where to transfer the money. A "bank account" field in the profile section would do the job, instead of asking for it left and right. What do you think?

I always have to ask for my friend's bank account number in order to make a transfer. It would be nice if I could:
1- Add a note for each friend to keep his bank account number, or
2- I could add my bank account number in my profile, so other users could see it.I think it would be better the second feature.

May not want to put bank details in the app (an idea under review) but would be good to be able to flag that you have new details, so that others can see this and ask you for updated details before transferring (or maybe you can store just last 3 digits of acc number for comparison).
