provide option to disable venmo and/or paypal
I don't have venmo, and paypal repayments are a pain. If I could disable both so that my friends don't attempt to repay me with them, it would be very nice. Obviously this is an option that I set on my account that affects what other people see when they go to 'settle up'.
Hey there – very sorry for the trouble! We would love to add a “this is how I like to be repaid” feature that would let you specify your favorite payment services and the IDs you use on each platform. Can’t say exactly when this will get implemented (we’re a really tiny team) but it’s on the radar. Thanks for your patience.

My friends and I love using Splitwise, but we always get caught up on the same snag when paying each other: no one knows which payment methods everyone else accepts. A bunch of us don't use Venmo, so settling up with each other inevitably leads to lots of cancelled Venmo payments and confusion. Generally speaking, it could be equally likely that someone doesn't use Paypal and the same confusion could ensue.
My suggestion is that Splitwise allow each user to set his accepted payment methods in his account, and then only these payment methods are shown when others are sending payments to him.

I agree. It's such a pain to receive paypal payments and being unable to remove the option. please make this improvement

Hi, I think that when people sign up they should register which payment options they are happy to receive. I paid my friend through Paypal and she doesn't have Paypal so I had to go through a real process getting my money back and waiting for it to come back so I could pay her in cash

We've had a rent payment get 'lost' in the system and Paypal charges are expensive (And we're still trying to get the payment back). How can we disable Paypal payments through splitiwse?
Terrible user experience at the moment!

100% agree with this feature request, paypal is the slowest form of getting paid & our large groups always use it despite being told not too..
The only reason people are using it is because Splitwise is prompting them to.
Thanks!

This would be a very helpful feature as my PayPal account is used for work and Splitwise is used for my personal transactions.

Please enable options for Paypal - I don't want to receive payments by it and no matter how many times I tell people, they still keep doing it. Surely this is a simple fix? Thanks

Would love it if you could set a preferred payment method for your account. Also when clicking Settle up, it would be nice to have it automatically go to the next payment after making one.

Yes please; people end up paying me using PayPal and this goes to my UK account which I then have to convert from GBP -> USD (and lose money in the process). Please let me opt out of PayPal/Venmo. Better still, also have a Square Cash option! https://cash.me/

Some people would prefer to be paid in cash rather via PayPal or Venmo. However, this can be hard to communicate to everyone sharing expenses in a large group, and someone may unknowingly send a PayPal payment, which can be a pain to retrieve or undo later.
Perhaps include in the "advanced" group settings some checkboxes for each of the payment options to enable/disable them.

I don't want to sign up for Paypal. I've told my roommates & make a note on each expense I post that Paypal is not a valid way to reimburse me.
However, occasionally they accidentally send it this way. Then we have to wait thru the 3-4 weeks of Paypal emailing me to join, then emailing me that the payment is going to be returned. Then they just pay me as I prefer (cash or check).
To prevent this inconvenience -- especially as Splitwise is starting to enable additional forms of payment (Google Wallet, Apple Pay, etc) -- individual users should be able to go their account settings & disable/enable different payment methods as valid for settling up with them (by default, all would be valid).
Then when a user attempts to settle up with an invalid payment delivery method, they'll get a message like '[Person X] has disabled [Payment method Y] as a payment method'

THIS IS HUGE. ALSO at the very least, people should be allowed to state their preference. i have a group of friends that only use paypal (and hate venmo) and another set that are exactly opposite. this is such low hanging fruit that is resulting in a major pain point. please fix now.
