   Thanks for the suggestion – I can see how that would be useful! Our travel calculator (http://splitwise.com/calculators/travel) does something like this, so it is a problem we’ve thought about before, though not exactly in this way. I’ll pass on your idea and add it to our list of possible future updates.

   I’m living in a shared house and I’d like to evenly divide a bill into days and then allocate them to tenants.

   For example, Bob lived in the house from 1 Jan to 2 Jan and John did only on 1 Jan. Suppose I’ve got a bill of $5, which is effectively $2.5 per day, then Bob should pay 2.5+1.25=$3.75, John should pay $1.25.

   The share based method cannot be applied here since the date ranges can be overlapped.
