We have a big group of people who often have activities together. Since the majority of attendees are the same, it would be great to have the option to duplicate a group and then be able to add/delete individuals in the new group depending on who's attending. This way we don't have to create a new group and add individual names each time.

Thanks for the suggestion! For now, you may want to check out the “Simplify debts with this person” option (web-only), which moves all of a person’s group debts out of the group. You can do this by clicking on a person’s name in the left sidebar, then clicking the settings icon at the top of the right sidebar and choosing “Simplify debts with this person”.

Interesting idea. I understand the use case – “don’t settle up until I add everything” is something I’ve heard friends of mine say anecdotally. So thanks for the suggestion!

Splitwise for groups is most efficient when people settle up after all expenses have been entered. However, many people don't know this and pay along the way. It would be great if a group organizer had the option of controlling/determining when people in a group can go in and settle up (settle up is locked until then). Once the expenses are all entered, the organizer can go in and press a button to ask people to settle up (which then sends a message to group members to go and do so). In the current method, people pay at random times and they pay to individuals for a particular expense (messing up the simplify debts feature) and people constantly have to ask if its ready to settle...

Thanks for the suggestion! I totally understand this use case – “don’t settle up until I add everything” is something I’ve heard friends of mine say anecdotally. I’ll add this to our list of possible improvements for future versions :)

One problem we encounter is that people don't know when they can start settling up (or they start paying before all the expenses are in). To avoid this, give the option within a Group of allowing each person to indicate (or allow someone to indicate for them) "entries completed" or "expenses entered". That way, we know when all the expenses are entered and people can start settling up. Either that or have an indicator on the Group home page that allows someone to indicate "Time to settle up" or "Please wait before settling up".
