add self-defined (or just more) currencies
ok, I might be the only one, but I want to use this for international travel-- I live in Ethipia and would love to use the ETB. if it's too much trouble to add all these currencies, can we add our own? :)
1 voteHey Elise – we’ve just added ETB to our list of currencies :) If you refresh splitwise.com/our mobile apps, it should now appear in the list of supported currencies. Hope that helps!

Edit friends bug
I had same friend with different email ids I was not sure how to merge them. But after looking at the new edit friend I changed one of the email id to already existing one. So instead is merging those two I lost the details of one.
I loved your iOS app at the first glance. I've recommended your app to at least 50 ppl. Please get the android app to the same level thanks!2 votes -

You can now add comments to expenses, which will show up in the recent activity feed, so you can comment on an expense and then delete it an your friends will have a record of what happened.

update / add features to the android app
I need the ability to see all the information on an entry. At the moment you can only see the first couple of words of the title (if it's longer it gets cut off) and you can't see any notes or images of the entry. This seems like a KEY feature that there should be since being able to see all the info that a person is adding is an important facet of the service.
1 voteThe Android app should now show all expense details.

Change your settle up algorithm
When simplify debts is on and I click settle up and then pay with paypal, it tells me to make multiple small payments to those who are owed instead of one full payment to the person owed the most. For example, three people were owed money in my group: #1 was owed $400, #2 was owed $700, and #3 was owed $40. I owed $130 or something like that. Splitwise told me to may ~$20 to #3, then split payments to #1 and #2 as well. With the goal of minimizing total number of payments and paying back the person…
1 voteWith simplify debts on, it should work more like you expect in a group.

Simplify debts for people not in groups
we love this site and the relates applications both in iOS and android. But what i feel missing is a simpler way shuffle debts between friends that are not in a single group. The simplify debts feature between a group s good and understandable that people know each other, but for expenses that were not added to a group can not be shuffled. Please add a feature where you can shuffle amounts between a group of people.
13 votesWe actually have a “simplify debts” feature that lets you do a one-time shuffle with friends – it’s on the user settings page under “Advanced features”. We consider it a power-user feature (since it changes people’s balances in a way that can be more difficult to understand than within-group debt simplification), so we don’t encourage most people to use it, but it’s available if you want it!

Allow to add a new member while editiing expenses
1)Edit an expense
2)click on split equally
3) Try to add a new member in the billIT cannot be done because the current transaction involves only selected people.
1 voteIf you’d like to add an existing friend to a bill, just click the “With you and:” field at the top of the “Edit bill” form and add that person’s name. (If you’re trying to invite an entirely new person, there’s a bug in the form that prevents this, but we’re hoping to fix that issue soon.) Hope that helps!

Deleting or Hiding Groups
I Know that you Guys are working on this issues.
I presume that you are working on Hiding Groups instead of Deleting them. What i wanna suggest is that if you can provide both the options, Deleting & Hididng, it would be good.
But Deleting should be done only after all the users in that group are Settled Up.57 votesUpdate: we now hide groups that have been settled up for at least 40 days. You can also still delete groups.
We’d definitely like a better way to handle the closing/hiding of groups, besides just deleting the group entirely. We’ve got a lot on our to-do list, but we’re hoping to add this feature in the not-too-distant future :)

Delete Expense
- When a expense is deleted, a push notification is sent to ios users, however it doesnt say who deleted the expense?
Could you please add this information in the push message.
- When the push notification is clicked, it should take straight to that particular expense details and not the overview screen.
Please do the needful for our convenience.
9 votesWe added both of these features with the new activity feed!

change focus to the "with who" field when the user clicks "add a bill"
It would be much quicker easier if I could just click "add a bill" then start typing the persons name and tab through the form, rather than have to then click the field first.
1 voteThanks for the suggestion! I thought we’d done this already, but apparently we forgot to actually release the feature :) The “with you and:” field should now automatically focus when adding a bill from the dashboard or the “All expenses” screen. When you add from the page of a specific friend or group, the description field will automatically focus instead (since the “with” field already contains the current friend/group, and for most bills those are the only people who are added). Hope that helps!

Show contact info
Give users the ability to see the contact info linked to each contact's name. Sometimes, I'd like to know if I'm sending a notification to someone's email or phone number but there's no way to see. For some reason, sometimes I have two contacts for the same person and one will be linked to an email address and another will be linked to a phone number but I can't tell which one is which.
4 votesYou can click on friend settings in the apps to see the email or phone for that person now.

Don't require email address for group members
Requiring group members to have a unique email address makes it difficult to keep track of money I owe myself.
I sometimes borrow money from a savings account and want to track how much I "owe" myself which SplitWise would be perfect for with a slight change. The current system only allows unique email addresses as group members so I have to use a workaround to add my savings account as a member so I can record my repayment.
7 votesActually, email addresses are already optional for group members – on the “create group” page, just leave a person’s email blank when adding them. The field should say “Email address (optional)”. Hope that helps!

Recognize gmail addresses with or without periods
My friend invited me to Splitwise using my gmail address xxx.y.z.x@gmail.com. When I tried to log in using xxxyzx@gmail.com (same address, but Google lets us put periods for easier dictation and understanding), Splitwise did not recognize this as the same account. Confused, I created a separate account using the email address without periods, only to find that now I have two Splitwise accounts. Having the ability to add multiple emails would also address this issue.
7 votesUpdate: sorry for the delay! We now handle this correctly.
Definitely a good suggestion – we’ve had similar confusion with “@gmail.com” vs “@googlemail.com” in the UK and some other territories. We hope to add support for multiple emails later this summer, and better support for Gmail specifically.

Add the ability to hide transactions I'm not involved in
When looking at a group on Splitwise I'd like to be able to hide transactions that I'm not a part of. When part of a large group there are quite a few transactions that just clutter the feed.
4 votesHey Matt – if you open your group and click on the gear/settings icon at the top of the right-hand sidebar, you should see an option to “hide items not involving me”. That feature can be a little finicky (if you load more expenses, it sometimes resets), but we’re hoping to improve it more in the future.

Reverse Bills
Sometimes I EARN money, and I owe that money to my 3 roommates.
A bill is when they OWE ME money. A Reverse bill is when I OWE THEM money.
You can solve this by letting us do a negative amount for a bill. Thanks!
126 votesOur website now has additional handling for reverse bills/refunds – when entering a bill, you now have the option to choose “reimbursement” as a split type, which will allow you to distribute money equally between a number of people. (If you try to enter a negative cost in the “Add bill” form, it will now automatically change to the new “reimbursement” split method.)
We’d love to add this kind of bill to our mobile apps as well, but it’s not on the roadmap yet. Apologies for the inconvenience!
Hope that helps! Let us know if you encounter any bugs, or if you have any other suggestions.
