Display Running Balances
It would be lovely to see the running balances with each transaction. Basically add a column at the right that says "Bob owes me" and the balance at that time, switch it over to "I owe Bob" if one of his transactions puts me in debt. The last transaction should align with the current balance displayed at the top.
This is an idea that the team really likes. We’re leaving it under review until we can come up with a design we like.

Have a page for the individual user to see how they’re money ends up being owed to a person. Too often I wonder how I owe someone money in splitwise when the flow of money changes more than once.
Ie. a side page that shows running totals specifically for your debts/credits

Hello, some tips to improve splitwise. It should be able to know the value of the debt on the current date, having to make future launches we have no way of knowing how many the debt is on the current date it is mixed with the future debts. You could also double an expense when adding multiple things over and over. It would be necessary to decrease the work. -

Add an option to see how much i owe a friend historically from the Dashboard page. (So total of everything)

I want to see remaining balance after every transaction so i can reconcile it easily rather than checking all transactions.

It can be confusing when pay periods don't line up with calendar months. It would be really helpful to have a rolling balance when you tap on a day, or to have end of month balances each month, or something like that. If you make any mistake in accounting it's really hard to go through the past expenses and figure out what you did wrong, and there's no reference balance like there is on a bank statement to make sure you got everything.

It would be very useful to have a record of how much a person /a group owed me at any point of time(currently we have final status after latest transaction). So I can goto any transaction and directly have a record of how much I was owed/ I owed at that point of time

It would helpful in the group to show the running total for the month in the "month/ year" header and also have the ability to apply a settlement on just that monthly total.
For example, in a co-living environment I pay all the expenses for the home while my wife pays me back half of everything on a monthly bases. We'd like to be able to see easily how much was owed each month - so that she can pay me back for just that month when she's ready to, while I'm continuing to add bills for the next month.
I feel like this could be achieved by showing the monthly total and adding a button beside it like "settle this month" or "make this partial payment" in the month's header bar within the group.
As of right now, the way I'm circumventing this is by making a new group for every month IE July 2019 Bills... and having her settle each group... Which is fine, but then I loose out on the reoccurring expenses feature.
Thank you for your consideration.

I'd really love to have the ability to see the balances at a given point of time (i.e. after a selected bill). How are you going on with that, do you have any news for us?

When the transactions are frequently changed and updated on Splitwise, it becomes really confusing. So I would suggest a new column with screenshots from time to time, of balances, only total balance, not with everyone’s balance, when no transactions are being updated from anybody.

Another item I submitted could serve as a design proposal: http://feedback.splitwise.com/forums/162446-general/suggestions/33370675-have-a-graph-that-shows-the-history-of-the-balance

When viewing past bills and payments, there is no way to see what the resulting balance between the individuals involved was at that point in time. This would hugely help in resolving disputes in how much money is owed, especially when payments have been recorded automatically by third party websites.
Use Case: I am trying to figure out if the current balance is correct after another user sent me a payment (in this case, she sent a payment and cancelled it and made a second, larger payment: both payments now seem to be counted by Splitwise). Because of the way that some bills get batched together for "Settle all balances", it's hard to reverse engineer just by looking at the amounts paid. Having this information on past bills and payments would massively help with this, since you could track the balance over time.

I think if possible in future updates I would like to see balance details, so when some one clicks to see what they owe it also shows the bill it is owed for.

5 years and this isn't done yet? I guess it wasn't that neat of an idea.

Add a column that shows how the overall balance changes with each transaction.

It would great if you can shown the mouse over breakup in the dashboard. Currently if i owe to one person in the group and that money which i owe is from multiple expenditure there is no clue from which expenses the total amount is building up.

When viewing balances with a friend, could the web interface show "balance to date" on every entry? This could be extremely helpful when consolidating balances with other sources.

Please build this <3 If only in the Printable Summary, that would already be very helpful!

Hi,
Please add this feature. It'll be very handy for users to do a quick verification esp. in cases where a bunch of debt simplifications are done by some other user, and I want to verify if I still owe overall the same as I did before the debt simplifications were made. Even otherwise, it'd be useful to keep track of how the amounts owed to/from various users has changed over time. Buxfer has this feature and I really like it.

It would have be great if we had the option to show group balance upto some specific date if we would have liked or let say we wanted to settle up on month to month basis. Since the web app shows running group balance on a running expenses, its difficult for us to calculate what each person owes other to a specific date or by the end of a certain month. Although, there is this monthly expenditure summary, it still doesn't show what each member owes to other members in the group. If you could just incorporate this feature it will make an already great tool simply awesome. Thank you
