[BUG] Tab order in group creation messy
Tab order in Group creation under /groups/new is wonky after you've added a bunch of extra people.3 votes
Thanks for the heads-up – yep, I see what you mean. I’ll add this to our list of website bugs and hopefully we can fix it up soon :)
Help Button or Link
You ought to have a "Help" or "Documentation" link somewhere in the UI.3 votes
Sorry for the trouble! We currently have a “Feedback” link in the lower right of every page, which includes links to all our helpdesk articles. I’ll pass on your suggestion and see if it makes sense to add additional help links elsewhere on our website.
Intelligently Choose Year in Quick Add
When entering expenses in the quick add form, it always picks the current year if you just enter a dd/MM date. I would imagine that most people using this are going to be entering past expenses, but if you use this for entering last year's expenses after new year, then the year goes in wrong. For example, I've entered an expense on 24/12, which gets interpreted in 2017.3 votes
Thanks for the suggestion – that definitely makes sense! Quick-add is a pretty infrequently used part of Splitwise, so this probably won’t be fixed right away, but hopefully it’s something we can take a look at before 2018 :)
My total share in WEB app
In Android app there is a 'Group spending summary' screen where I can select 'All time' mode and see how much did the trip cost to me.
In the WEB app this screen shows data only for one month at a time that is inconvenient if trip didn't fit in a single month. Please, add 'All time' mode to WEB app.3 votes
Thanks for the feedback! I don’t expect we’ll be revisiting the trends view on the web app soon, but this does seem like a useful improvement.
add a cancel button to this page
add a cancel button to the new group page3 votes
Thanks for the feedback! I think we left this off intentionally to make the page a little simpler to use in the general case of just getting started, though I’ll see if we can think about adding a cancel button here.
save data form data locally
As I was creating an expense, I accidentally clicked outside the modal window, which cleared all the data I entered. This is very annoying. It should persist locally.3 votes
Thanks for the feedback! I can see how this would solve some problems in entering data from our web app.
Would it be possible to add an icon/option for Security under Home? In our house, we all split the monthly cost of Security Monitoring. This just seems like a useful categorization as others who use Simplisafe or a DIY security system with monitoring. This is just the OCD side of me wanting more icons! Anyway, love the app. Very helpful!!3 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! We’ll consider this the next time we discuss new categories to add.
to change the icon for deleting an expense
I feel a trash icon for deleting an expense, rather than the cross (X).
When we click on an expense, theres an expansion of the expense's details right.
And when we want to close the expense expansion, intuitively it feels like the cross (X) icon closes the expansion.3 votes2 comments · Web app · Admin →
Thanks for the suggestion and feedback! I’m sorry for any confusion.
I’ll leave this under review for now.
add a cute easter egg animal to your desktop application :D :D :D like a puppy. Or a penguin.
like the easter eggs on the tablet and phone apps3 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! :)
Recurring Shared Orders
The Shared Orders beta is great, but it would be great to have a recurring shared order as many people have a weekly grocery run.3 votes
We’re glad you like the feature! Thanks for the suggestion, I can see how that would be a helpful improvement. I’ll leave this open for further review for now.
I wish there was a way to see all the charges for one person over the past year that they have had to pay. Like, if one roommate gave me $50, then I could see $50, and then the successive bills added, which would take away from the $50. So I could see the build up and succession of payments and bills. I remember at some point, I could see a line graph of what one person owed so see how each bill affected how much they owed at a certain time. I can't seem to do that in the group setting.

We’ve talked about a feature like this – just haven’t gotten around to it yet! Thanks for the suggestion :)
Keep debts on PDF summary until paid
I love splitwise. One thing I have a problem with though is remembering old debts. I have a couple things people owe me for that are beyond a month old so there for they no longer show up on the summary. The amounts of those items do carry over at the bottom but that is no good if we can't remember what the debt was for (i.e I paid someone's share of the Christmas decorating expense) having a name attached to older debts is really helpful so everyone can remember2 votes
We’d like to overhaul the PDF summary at some point – when we do, we’ll definitely take this into consideration.
Showing "owed" amounts one by one
When you click settle up, it shows the total amount between 2 friends. Add a link to see the owed items individually.2 votes
I agree that this would be useful. It’s on our list of possible features, but we haven’t gotten around to it yet – sorry for the delay!
just made a bunch of changes to things, someone got 18 emails :/2 votes
Sorry about that! This is a good suggestion – I’ll bring it up at our next team meeting.
Footer when logged in.
On other places in your site I'm able to access the calculators, about page, etc down at the bottom, but when I'm on the dashboard those links are missing. Need consistency. Love the site though overall!2 votes
I’ll pass on this feedback! We recently added a link to the calculators on the dashboard (in the right-hand sidebar), but the about page and others are definitely quite hard to find.
New Product Suggestion - Bank Ledger
I love your platform. You should totally add the ability to allow people to use splitwise as a bank ledger. Essentially it would be the same as your current product save for the other entity in the "group" would be a bank instead of another person.2 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! We’d definitely like to include better bank support in the future, though it’ll probably take us a long time to do any actual bank integrations. For now, you could try creating a group, with yourself and one other member called “Bank”, and keep track of a ledger that way…it’s a bit messy, but could be worth a try!
I had this wonderful idea regarding improvement of splitwise. I feel splitwise app should also have a built-in function that will help the people using it to prepare their monthly expense after dividing it in group wise..that is for every group he should be able to see how much did he spend with respect to individual group! How does this sound ?? I think its cool and boost the popularity because everyone needs to account for their expense and what better way to do it when splitwise will help them!!2 votes2 comments · Web app · Admin →
Hey Pujan, thanks for the suggestion! We definitely want to get better at things like this.
Have you seen the monthly charts section on our website? If you open a group, then click the “Trends” button at the top of the right-hand column, and then click the “View full charts” link, you should be able to see all of your own spending for the group that month, split into individual categories. It’s not perfect, but it may help you until we find time to work on some better chart features :)
can add additional feature of having graphic trends per individual per month
I would like to see graphical analysis of my expenses per group, all groups in selectable period (Date between/ Monthly)2 votes
You can see our current best analysis by category by month by going to: splitwise.com
1. Either navigate the group you are interested in or All Expenses
2. Click the Trends widget on the upper right, and then view full charts
Custom defined periods would have to be a pro feature – that is very expensive computationally to do for us at present. You can also export group level data to csv via the gear in the upper right → Export as spreadsheet to do your own analysis if you want custom ranges.
I hope this helps!
Color Coding of Paid column.
A nice to have would be:
The column that shows who paid could use a different color for each person who pays. For instance I have Zac, Kyle, and Myself (Erza) in my group, my color would be black. Kyle could be blue and Zac could purple. This would allow me to look at glance who paid more often. I do like the the orange and green column that shows how much was lent/borrowed. Icing on the cake would be having the ability to assign each group member a color.2 votes
I’ll pass on the suggestion! I know in the past we’ve considered additional things to indicate who paid – small user icons, for instance. (I believe we decided against that in order to keep the interface cleaner and less cluttered.) I’ll add this to our list of possible ideas and see what the rest of the team thinks.
can total Owes you amount be in other color rather light green
can total Owes you amount be in other color rather light green? and split among groups in light green?2 votes
Sorry for the trouble! I’ll pass on a note about this – that number will probably stay green, but we might be able to make it a bit darker.
