I can definitely see how this would be useful for certain types of groups, especially travel. For now, you can always temporarily change your default currency from your account settings page (though I realize that’s not the best solution). Apologies for the trouble!

Interesting – I’ll pass on the suggestion! I know we’ve considered making some kind of car/gas calculator for road trips and carpooling and such, but I don’t know if we’ve thought about it recently, so I’ll bring it up again at our next planning meeting.

We just added a very basic calculator function to our web app, so you can now use basic mathematical operations when entering a cost (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). We hope to add similar features to our mobile apps at some point in the future!

Our next update to the Excel feature is to bring it to mobile. Not sure when we’ll have the bandwidth to consider functionality on the whole. Sorry for any inconvenience! Zoe

We aren’t planing to add support for custom categories in the near future. We’re considering better ways to allow people to sort expenses into categories other than the ones we’ve provided. In the meantime, if there are particular important categories you feel are missing, feel free to email us with a suggestion at support@splitwise.com.

This would super cool! A very common expense - we go somewhere an one or 2 of us have a car. We always have an agreed rate of NOK 1,5 per km. Enter the km and the expense calculates the amount based on a group setting of standard rate per km/mile. Hell why don't go all the way and integrate with google maps and enter start - end of the trip and use the distance you receive and calculate the expense... dream
