add discount
when splitting a bill item wise, please also add a category of discounts, along with tax columns that are there... also please allow users to add more tax rows if need be
What would the additional tax rows be for? And discount would be a percentage of the total? a whole negative dollar value?

Discounts can come as flat dollar amounts as well as percentages of the subtotal.

Surprised this is still an issue. Have an option to add a discount line just like tax or tip.

We just got the paid version to use the itemization/scan receipt functions. It's great except, like others have noted here, I've had a lot of frustration when my receipt has discounts because they aren't reflected on the total (there's no 'edit item' option, so I have to basically delete the item and then re-enter it at the discounted cost which isn't always indicated on the item line-- It could be a % of the total bill as noted in some comments here.. etc.). Would be wonderful to have the ability to add a negative row/item or to add a %-off-subtotal option (ideally both).. ?Thanks!

Should be allocated based on % of subtotal by individual. Or manually by user input, even could be as simple as allowing a negative expense line item. Need this capability for below the line discounts as well as above the line when the receipt upload/itemization doesn’t catch it.

I am a paid user. But the because of not being able to apply discount i need to use a separate app which is able to. Most places offer discounts and since being able to scan and itemize receipts is the main selling point for me there is no point in continuing on the paid plan.

I think there should be options to have a globally applied discount before/after tax as well as on a per item basis.
Applying globally works in a lot of cases, but I'd say that more than 50% of the time, I have to apply discounts and tax on a per item basis to cover the cases when my bill has both taxable and non-taxable items on it.
An example would be the Target Red Card in Michigan. We get 5% off globally, but we don't pay tax on food items in MI. If you're splitting the bill, the tax can be more complicated than evenly splitting it or distributing it based on percentages like Splitwise tends to do. Having additional fields next to each item would be really helpful.

Please add section to add total discount on the itemized bill page. This discount will be divided by percentage of the item price for each person.

Hi Marshall,
Thanks for the response.. In many hotels, there are discounts available on food and not drinks... so percentage wise it could helpalso when we add bills there are at times discount after or before addition of taxes... (in both cases calculations are different).. so such a flexibility would be useful..
hope my response was of some help

Discount can be either a percentage of total or a fixed amount. I would like to have both options.
