Whoops, we’re still considering this idea. It does sounds like a useful improvement in the add expense form.

Updating this as it’s been a while. You can currently accomplish this by setting your expense to recur every month and then editing the amount on the expense once it posts.
Apologies that we don’t have a better way of managing this yet!

Storing bank account #s is unfortunately tricky, as there are some serious security concerns around bank #s here in the US and in some other countries. Still, we’d like to do it if possible. It’s not on our roadmap yet, but we’re definitely considering it for the future.

We just added a very basic calculator function to our web app, so you can now use basic mathematical operations when entering a cost (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). We hope to add similar features to our mobile apps at some point in the future!

We’d definitely like to improve clarity on debt simplification. In most situations, it’s impossible to show the full details of a debt simplification without compromising privacy, but we may be able to show only the parts of a simplification that directly involve you. (You can sort of do this already by going to the “All expenses” tab and viewing all the individual transactions involved in a debt simplification.)

I can see how this would be a huge help for people who have many friends with the same name who refuse to add their last name to their accounts! This isn’t on our roadmap yet, but it’s something we’ll consider in the future.

Debt simplification can be disabled in groups on the group settings screen – just turn the “simplify debts?” switch to off under “Advanced settings”.
We don’t currently have a setting to block yourself from debt simplifications among friends, but it’s something we may consider in the future. In the meantime, you can revert a debt simplification at any time by deleting any part of it, and the entire transaction will be undone.

What would the additional tax rows be for? And discount would be a percentage of the total? a whole negative dollar value?

We have a slightly different solution in mind, but it should handle this issue.

Updating our response since it’s been a long time since the idea was opened. Even though saving the type of unequal split feels like something that would obviously be nice to have (I certainly would use it myself every so often), it requires a change to our data structures, and is therefore a bunch of difficult work to fix, especially since it would need to be fixed separately across iPhone, Android, and web.
If you have a specific use case where not having this feature is really bothering you a lot, please email support@splitwise.com, or comment below to let us know why it’s important to you. The original poster’s meal example is clear and I’m wondering if there are other reasons why it is needed, or any easier way for us to fix it.
In terms of the priorities of our small team, most bills on Splitwise are split…

Discount can be either a percentage of total or a fixed amount. I would like to have both options.
