Allow custom categories
User defined categories that do not fit into default categories

We aren’t planing to add support for custom categories in the near future. We’re considering better ways to allow people to sort expenses into categories other than the ones we’ve provided. In the meantime, if there are particular important categories you feel are missing, feel free to email us with a suggestion at support@splitwise.com.

Ability to create a custom Catagory. The pro version in the charts section has a huge pie chart of uncategorized items. would be nice to lable each expense

User can design their own categories with customised icons . This will help to use the app for tracking home expenses etc

It would be really nice to create own Categories to choose or to edit existing ones the user doesn‘t use that much.
Additionally, it would also be awesome to be able to individually add Key-Words such as the name of the favourite coffee shop, so they would be recognized directly in the according Category as „Coffee Shop“. -

maybe support the use of hash tags which you can also use in statistics, then you dont have to allow more. categories but make a statistics view based on provided hashtags so people can control their categories themselves. add the amount specified to each hashtag provided and make an overview page of that

When this is implemented, I’ll use this app for expenses as well. Right now it is only good for splitting because categories are very limited

personalizar categorías a las necesidades de cada usuario y agregar una sub-categoría para poder filtrar mejor los gastos, por ejemplo categoría gastos del hogar y sub categoría eléctricos, y poder enviar recibos o fotos de comprobantes al correo sería genial hacerlo con vínculos a las hojas de cálculo

@Admin : Why don't you allow custom categories. this would also allow to cost attributed to a certain projects, e.g. Sicily vacation, East Coast vacation etc. Very valid use-case. Since there are so many people asking for it, it would be great to get your latest feedback on it. last time you replied was one year ago.

you should allow users to add , delete , update categories based on their needs.
Also give the option to view monthly expenses by selected categories (option to choose categories )
also an option in the monthly charts to drill down the category to the actual spend items. this will allow users to analyze their spending. -
