Adding EdenRed/Sodexo coupons in the website.
Dear Team,
Please consider adding EdenRed/Sodexo coupons column along with money as many people in India get EdenRed/Sodexo coupons as a part of their salary.
Would love to see a reply for my suggestion4 votesHi there,
Just to clarify, is the suggestion adding them as a “currency” or as a payment method (ala PayPal)? Are they denominated in points, or in INR, or some other currency?
Cheers,

Better internationalization
Many languages uses "," for decimal divider and the SEK symbol "kr" is placed after the amount:
"1,5 kr" instead of "kr 1.5"15 votesWe’d definitely like to bring better internationalization to the website. Our iOS app should already use proper internationalization in most places, and I believe our Android app does the same (though I’m not 100% sure). Hopefully we’ll find time to improve this later this year!

Give users the ability to see future balances for recurring expenses.
In our group we have expenses like Rent, Internet & Netflix that are static in amount most of the year. We have expenses like this set as recurring.
When expenses are recurring there's not much room to quickly see an upcoming balance which is ultimately what my suggestion would provide.
12 votesI could see us adding something like showing how your balance will change in the upcoming expenses tab.

Sorting order
On the home screen, the owe-ees should rise to the top, then have contacts listed in alphabetical :)
22 votesThanks for the suggestion! I’ll pass it on at our next design meeting.
For now, if you’d like to quickly view only the people you have balances with, just tap the “you owe” or “you get back” cell above the list of people (where it lists your total balance), and the screen will update to only show the relevant people. Hope that helps!

let people settle with bitcoins.
I know I'm a nerd obsessed with bitcoin but it would be cool. Expensify, wordpress.com, reddit.com, okcupid, and easyDNS have integrated with bitcoin so it's not as fringe as it may seem.
Love your service by the way.
647 votesWe’re definitely considering Bitcoin! We think cryptocurrencies are fascinating (seriously, we’ve held a Providence meet-up about them), and it’s something on our list of possible improvements for the future.

add a 'by calendar' split method
Our household recently had some of its occupants change, and so the payment of things like rent and bills has been complicated. We needed to figureout who was present for each bill, and for how much, and therefore how much they should pay as a result.
Splitting 'by shares' and entering the number of days that people were around was a good solution here, but it's a pain to keep track of that manually.
What I'd love is a calendar where people can be added or removed. Then when an electricity bill comes in (covering 90 days), the date-range for…
41 votesThanks for the suggestion – I can see how that would be useful! Our travel calculator (http://splitwise.com/calculators/travel) does something like this, so it is a problem we’ve thought about before, though not exactly in this way. I’ll pass on your idea and add it to our list of possible future updates.

Enable a toggle between simplify debts "on" and "off"
"Simplify debts" is by far the easiest way to get squared up, say, at the end of the month. However, it confuses the heck out of some of my friends who get confused by the idea of owing a whole bunch of money to one person to whom they might not owe anything directly (eg "Why do I own $100 to person A? She never lent me money" "well it's because you own person B money, and person B owes person A" ... you get the idea.
If you could quickly toggle between the simplified and unsimplified debts, it would…
5 votesThanks for the suggestion, and sorry for the trouble! We definitely want to make “simplify debts” a bit clearer, though we’ve had trouble successfully doing that. (That’s actually one of the reasons it’s buried in the settings now – some people used to turn it on and off quite frequently, and then OTHER members of their groups would get confused about why their balances were changing.) I like the idea of a temporary toggle, though, to just “preview” what the group would look like the other way. I’ll pass on the feedback and see if we can add it to our list of future updates :)

Chrome extension
Most people open famous web apps through extensions.
So it would be great if you build an extension for splitwise as this would really support browser users4 votesI can see how this would be useful from the comments. We’ll keep this in mind.

Name Diners and Itemize in Plates
It would make it convenient to be able to name diners in the Plates app. This well help identifying which plate belongs to the individual diner.
Another nice feature would be the ability to type in the items off of a receipt so when you send out the split check your friends see what they ordered and not just a line item dollar amount.
12 votesThanks for the suggestions! You can actually already name diners in the Plates app, though it’s a bit hidden – just tap on a plate while you’re adding items, and then tap on the name displayed in the column on the left. You’ll be able to type in a name for that plate. It’s pretty basic, but I hope it helps!
I’ll pass on your suggestion about naming items – I know we left that out at first in order to keep Plates as slim and fast as possible, but I definitely see how it’d be useful for some people. For now, I’m sorry for any inconvenience!

allow recipient to mark pending payments as complete
I have a payment from someone listed as pending and it says the funds have not been transferred because the person did not complete the payment on PayPal.
However, I did already receive the PayPal payment and withdrew the money into my bank.
I don't see an option to fix/update the "pending" to "complete".
3 votesI’ll pass on this suggestion at our next team meeting. I’m sorry the payment didn’t automatically get marked as complete – we should have received a notification from PayPal when the payment went through. If you send us an email at support@splitwise.com, I’d be happy to go in and manually mark the payment as complete for you.

Add a note feature
Need a note, a simple sticky on a calendar to remind myself and my friends of the upcoming bills. Currently I use my phone's calendar but I cannot share that with my roommates.
For example, as soon as I see the electric bill, I will note it on the due date, I don't pay these bills immediately but if any of my roommates feel its good to pay it themselves they can scratch the note and add a bill.12 votesInteresting. We’ve talked about adding “comments” to groups, which sounds a bit like what you’re suggesting (minus the calendar). I’ll pass on your suggestion at our next meeting and see what the rest of the team thinks :)

to make it possible to edit the remind email
Your app is now already in my favorite top 5 list, but it would be nice to add one more feature.
When I send a remind email, a standard text is already suggested. It's possible to edit that text but it would be really handy to change the standard text so I dont have to edit it every time I want to send the email.
I already asked this question but I think I wasn't clear about what I meant.
Thanks to make such a great app!3 votesAha, got it – thanks for the suggestion! I don’t think we’ve heard this idea before, so I’ll pass it on at our next team meeting, and see if it’s something we want to add to our to-do list.

Ability to add a default PayPal address
An account should have the ability to specify an alternate PayPal address so that when it's time to settle up, the alternate address will be used instead of the address associated with Splitwise.
47 votesThanks for the suggestion! This definitely makes sense. We’d like to add the ability for an account to include multiple email addresses, and setting different default addresses for PayPal/Venmo/etc seems like a logical extension of that.

Facilitate Multiple Groups within a Group.
Instead of hiding the expenses when Balance is $0,
Settle Up a Group Month Wise, so that a same group can be used, thus avoiding duplicate groups. So that we can have Monthly Balances & a Gross Total Balance.
Multiple Groups within a Group will give us more flexibility & Ease.Right now i am creating a Group Every Month.
14 votesI’ll pass on the suggestion! I’m not sure it’s applicable to a lot of Splitwise users – most people only use one group on Splitwise, or no groups at all – but it’s an interesting idea, and worth discussing.

add a rollback functionality
Splitwise does a fantastic job with keeping record of everyone's payments and loans. However, in situations where many payments and loans are done among 3 people or more, and not everybody lists it on Splitwise, it can be a pain to figure it all out. It would be great if you you offered a rollback functionality that allowed the users to rollback to the amount payed or owed up to a certain listing or date.
2 votesThis is a good idea, and one we’ve talked about as a team before. Unfortunately there are some technical challenges involved (it’s not always easy to rewind with so many users and bills), but it’s on our list of possible improvements for the future. In the meantime, I’m sorry for the inconvenience!
For now, you may want to try looking at the printable monthly summary on the web, which includes a record of what your balance was at the beginning and end of that month.

Intellisense
Hi,
This is a great web app. I was thinking, as the users who are using this app for everyday expenses management, their expense description remains same or similar. So, if you can store those descriptions and as user starts typing, you can show a probable list to select from their earlier descriptions. It will be more user friendly as then user doesn't need to type the same thing over and over again everyday or every week.
30 votesI can definitely see how that would be useful! We’ve got a bunch of features already on our to-do list, but I’ll pass on the suggestion at our next team meeting and see if we want to add that sometime soon.

View expenses by category
Hi,
I would find it extremely useful in both the mobile and web apps if I were able to group a house's expenses by their Category (possibly putting payments in their own section of the summary). In the web app, I imagine the link for this next to 'view printable summary'.
47 votesAre you looking for an item-by-item list, or a summary by category? If you’re looking for the latter, there’s a category breakdown chart you can use on our website – click the “Trends” button at the top of the right-hand sidebar, then click “view full charts” at the bottom of the sidebar. I’ll pass on the suggestion for a way to break things down by category. Hopefully we can add these features to our mobile apps in future updates!

Custom categories and total overview
I totally like the possibilities of the splitwise web app to show the trends and a monthly overview of the group's total. It would be really awesome if you could also add this overview to the iPhone app. I would also like the ability to split the bill unevenly like it is done in the web app.
Since you doesn't want to enable custom categories I want to request some categories because I have a lot of expenses that doesn't fit in the given categories e.g. party, medicine & health, computer, sport, clothes.
Keep up the good work, this app…
24 votesThanks for the suggestions! We’d definitely like to make some further improvements to our iPhone app, and I’ll pass on your category recommendations as well.
P.S. There’s already an option for “Sports” under “Entertainment”, just so you know :) Hope that helps!

Improved Debt Simplification with more clarity
Debt Simplification in its current form is quite limited. Even when I initiate the Debt Simplification on my end, I am not able to quite figure out how the debt got simplified. This is because whenever a debt simplification is made, multiple entries are added and it is difficult to correlate them.
It would be great if debt simplification was shown as a single entry for an individual debt simplification operation so that everyone involved is able to identify how the debts have been shuffled. This can be made clearer by showing a diagram with names or any other graphical…
24 votesWe’d definitely like to improve clarity on debt simplification. In most situations, it’s impossible to show the full details of a debt simplification without compromising privacy, but we may be able to show only the parts of a simplification that directly involve you. (You can sort of do this already by going to the “All expenses” tab and viewing all the individual transactions involved in a debt simplification.)

friends profile pictures
If i link my account to facebook / google i would expect that if my friends dont use this site or dont have a profile picture selected you would load it from those services. Why doesn't this happen?
Also why aren't images being be pulled from my google address book?
I saw the article about people being "scared away" by gravatar images. Couldn't you just include a small icon in the bottom coner showing where you got the icon from?
11 votesWe’d definitely like to work on better Facebook/Google contacts integration, including showing friends’ profile pictures. It hasn’t been a high priority because only a very small % of our users connect with FB or Google, but we’d still like to do it when we get a chance.
The icon for Gravatar images is an interesting idea as well – I’ll pass that on. Thanks for the suggestion!
