Edit friends name.
I want to edit the name of my friend as I want it so that i can distinguish between them and find out who he is looking at his name as some of my friends have the same name it is really becoming tough for me.
463 votesI can see how this would be a huge help for people who have many friends with the same name who refuse to add their last name to their accounts! This isn’t on our roadmap yet, but it’s something we’ll consider in the future.

Month expense calculator
It would be great if you can just create one column where one can see total amount being spent in a month by all the members related to you or your group. It would be great to see the month analysis, currently the monthly trends shown do not suffice much
20 votesThanks for the suggestion! I’ll pass this on at our next team meeting – we know our monthly summaries/charts could use some improvement.

to add a widget for the homescreen
Hi folks,
it would be great to have a widget for the Android app with the following functionality:
- Display one Friend per line
- Display the Avatar, the name, the total owed amount or the amount the friend owes me
- Have a little icon to add a bill and to settle upIf you have any questions please feel free to contact me :)
74 votesAn Android widget is a great idea :) We just started work on a pretty big Android update – for now, we’re mostly focused on improving the core app, but we’d love to include cool stuff like widgets in a future release.

Remind
I would like to have a remind function with detailed information of each transacton.
3 votesGreat idea! So basically, send reminder would include more “why” details, perhaps a line by line summary of transactions?
The idea of things at present is that the Splitwise interface itself is the “why” story – but we realize it could probably be better. Thanks for the suggestion.

Integrate with Mint.com
Is there anyway you can make Splitwise interface with mint.com? I understand this might be a weird idea because Splitwise is not a bank :) But mint is a great app to keep track of monthly expenses. It tracks the expenses from the bank account. I keep thinking how great it would be if somehow my Splitwise account could be registered in mint.com. That would make the data in mint so much more usable for me. All the proper transactions from Splitwise can be available there.
I say this because mint fails now because of situations like when I pay…
387 votesWe’d love to integrate with Mint, but the decision is mostly on Mint’s side. If you’d like Mint to add Splitwise, you can let them know in the comments here:

Total payable amount breakdown while sending reminder
Hi there,
Great work with the app. I downloaded the app today, used it for a while and I think I am gonna stick with it for a long long time. Its very useful for me. A couple of ideas or suggestions i would like to give though-
1) while sending reminder, it would be great if i could send a screenshot of the expenses owed by my friend at the other end. May be a screenshot or a simple breakdown of the expenses, it would be very helpful.
2) its irritating that everytime i have to assign a bill…
2 votesThanks for the suggestions! I’ll pass ‘em on at our meeting on Monday, but here’s a quick response:
1) Good thought! We do provide a link to Splitwise in the reminder email, where that person can log in and view the full list of bills, but it could definitely be nice to see the list directly in the email.
2) You’re definitely not the first to ask for this, but there are a few reasons we haven’t done it. The first is selfish – requiring invites helps Splitwise to grow, which allows us to keep the service free rather than having to charge. The second reason is user confusion – you’d be surprised how often people email us wondering why they can’t see the bills their friend added, or why their copy of the app shows a different balance than their friend’s (usually because they email addresses they’re using don’t…

Ad Campaign: International Travel
I suggest that Splitwise produce an advertising campaign which follows a group (or multiple groups) of friends as they set out on glorious adventures using Splitwise along the way to show how powerful of an app it is. This would be a very inexpensive and potentially powerful way to promote such a wonderful piece of technology. I know my friends and I have loved using Splitwise (what we call "the split") to help us keep track of our adventures and we would gladly volunteer to go on a crazy adventure or two to show the merits of this beautiful and…
1 voteThanks for the suggestion! We’ve been working on marketing Splitwise, and we think trips are a great use case to show off, both for existing Splitwise users (many of whom only use Splitwise to manage their apartment) and for new users. We’ve got a number of ideas that we hope to start rolling out in the coming months :)

View detailed "who owes who" in printable summary.
Sometimes (if someone doesn't use splitwise) you should at least mail/copy/give them all information about the calculation so it would be great to provide the simplified amounts of the entire group like displayed in the web (view full details) and app (in balances).
This could also be helpful in the mail reminders optionally.
7 votesThanks for the suggestion! I can definitely see why that would be useful :) I’ll pass on your suggestion at our next team meeting, and see if we can add it to our to-do list.

Authentication
Can you please add pre-existing login authentication (eg FB or Google)?
1 voteWe’re working on it! Our website supports Facebook and Google login, and Android now supports Google login.

"A copy bill" function
E.g. we get cable bill every month. Itemize it because different people want special features etc. Like 10 items typically in the bill. Usually the same but sometimes get PPV. Pain in the butt to re-enter every time. Should be able to copy a bill and use it as a foundation for a new bill.
324 votesThis is a neat idea! We have “reoccurring bills” but I can see how “duplicate this specific bill once, now” would be a useful functionality to add. We will consider this as we continue to improve Splitwise. Regards

Allow us to enter payees (like electric company or gas company) to which we pay bills, instead of just individual bills.
I pay three primary bills a month; gas, electric, and internet. If I were able to look at these companies as a "payee" such as Consumers Energy, it would be super nice. Then, if you were to add the functionality of being able to look at your "history" with that payee, average monthly expense, and maybe some suggestions on saving for bills, it would be super helpful.
1 voteWe’re working on something a little different that will solve this issue.

Get Whitelisted by AdBlockPlus
Your advertising isn't obtrusive or annoying, and your service is super useful. You should see about getting whitelisted by AdBlockPlus because you completely deserve to get paid.
1 voteThanks for pointing this out! I didn’t realize this was possible.

Unequal Bill Dividing Calculation
One of my most common tasks with Splitwise is dividing a bill unequally with one other person. It would be very handy if entering the amount for one person would automatically calculate the remaining amount owed for the other individual.
112 votesWhoops, we’re still considering this idea. It does sounds like a useful improvement in the add expense form.

Allow Custom Labels
Been using your app for a while now, it's pretty sweet!
Thought it might be cool to be able to add my own custom labels to bills. Similar to the 'Recurring' labels that automatically gets added to bills. That way I would be able to mark bills as 'Paid' or add other useful information that is relevant to my room mates and should be visible at a glance.
4 votesInteresting – I can see how this would be useful. I’ll add it to our list of possible future updates. For the time being, you could try using the “Notes” field to accomplish something similar, though obviously it’s a bit more buried (you’d need to click on each expense to view its “labels”).

Entire and monthly export option
There should be an option to export the entire transactions of an account for a particular month.
15 votesThanks for the suggestion – definitely makes sense. We hope to get around to this in the not-too-distant future.

Should be able to track expenses between two person in a group
We should be able to see the expenses between two people in a group
Let us suppose there are 3 people in the group A, B and C
Then A should be able to see the recent transactions between him and B
(A and B ) and between him and C (A and C)41 votesI agree that this would be useful! It’s on our list of possible features, but we haven’t gotten around to it yet – sorry for the delay.

Taxable items in itemized view
Hi,
Hey guys... love the work you are doing..
It would be great if you could add a checkbox in the itemized bill view to select items that are taxable or not. It generally happens when we do shopping for groceries in walmart or target, taxes are not applicable on many items and currently we have to manually calculate the tax with every applicable item; defeating the purpose of the tax field at the bottom.14 votesI’ll pass on the suggestion! We’d definitely like to make improvements to itemized billing at some point in the future.

Add group administrator function
I see that other people have suggested this before and it's been rejected, but I'd like to bring it up again - having a group administrator woul dbe extremely valuable. That person doesn't have to be the only one that can add/edit payments, but it would be nice to have someone controlling the group - I'm specifically thinking of the "simplify payments" function. Of the 3 times I've used splitwise, 2 of them have been messed up because someone randomly unclicked the simplify payments function - people made payments, then I re-clicked it and people had to make double payments.…
19 votesYour comments make sense – you’re definitely not the only person to be confused or frustrated when a friend “accidentally” turns simplify debts on or off. We’re thinking about ways to solve that problem, as well as ways to “close” or permanently settle a group, and I’ll bring up the possibility of a “group admin” again next time we talk about this. Thanks for the suggestion :)

add the ability to link to bank accounts
we did this with paydivvy. its the one thing that separated them from everyone else. now that paydivvy is being acquired we need a new service. hopefully connecting bank accounts is part of your plan already! makes it a lot easier to just press "pay" rather than cutting a check each time
32 votesWe’d definitely like to do this! It’s unlikely to happen any time in the next few months (it takes a lot of work to properly and securely integrate with banks), but hopefully it’s something we can consider in the future.

Ability to capture when someone should replace an item
There is not necessarily a specific cost but sometimes my roommates and I alternate the purchasing of a household item. For example if I buy dishwasher detergent this time my roommate buys it next time.
1 voteI can see how this would be useful. We might find that this complicates our user interface too much to be worth adding, but I’ll keep this up here so we can see if there’s a lot of interest in this kind of feature.
