Make it easier to plan for future expenses where no one has paid yet
Make the “payer” optional. One person submits rent payments but we want a way to track payments coming up when no one has paid yet that just shows who to send the money to without saying the person already paid for it. we just need a way to check off who has paid and who hasn’t.

"Ready to Settle" Button/Status for Groups
One pain point I've noticed is that right after a trip, some people in a group settle up before all the trip expenses are added to the group. Then, they have to settle up again after the further expenses are added.
It is very tempting to jump the gun and press that settle-up button. We usually have a parallel text message chain about who is ready to settle up.
It would be great if each member of a group could set their status to "Not Ready to Settle/Still have expenses to enter" (Red) or "Ready to Settle/All expenses entered" (Green)…

Revising amount owed after an expense paid
My friends paid me for an expense via Venmo, which was eventually revised in splitwise. Will their money go back into a pool to cover other “owed expenses”?

Invite friends with link
I want to be able to invite friends to Splitwise (and a specific group) with just a link; i.e. I will paste the link into a WhatsApp chat group (for example), and those friends will continue from there to create a Splitwise account, or sign in (if they already have a Splitwise account). I don't want to ask everyone for their email address. And I also don't want to type their phone numbers. A link is the simple way forward. Thank you!

to enable function where we could select specific items to “settle-up”
I’m not sure if this function is only available for the “pro” version but I believe it would be more useful if we could select specific items we could settle up the bills on. (i.e. I may only want to settle up the bills for item 1 and item 3, but not item 2 yet).

Allow for deposits to be deducted from expenses
Example: 2 of 6 people paid deposit or bill, when it’s time to settle up, how do we take the 2 peoples contribution into the split since all the bills are itemized. How do we avoid double billing those 2 who paid deposits for the entire group?

Is there a way to find a spend pattern per each person view ?
Is there a way to find a spend pattern per each person view ?
For example,
From the total expense of Person 1, he/she spends 10% on Transport, 40% on Room Rent, 30% on Shopping, 20% on Personal Stuffs.
From the total expense of Person 2, he/she spends 10% on Transport, 40% on Room Rent, 20% on Casino Gambling, 10% on Liquor, 10% on Personal Stuffs, 10% on Sky Diving.
so on and so forth..

minimize the number of transactions after all expenses have been entered
We group of 5 families A,B,C,D,E recently took a trip and each family paid for different stuff for the whole group.
At the end of trip we entered our expenses. A owes money to E
B owes to A and E
Instead to A transferring money to E and B transfering to A and E
it makes sense for B to transfer money to E that includes what A owes to E as well.
Before this app, I have managed this with a google sheet by plugging in formulas and there were fewer transactions needed.1 vote -

Unselecting group members when splitting the expense doesn't work. Just defaults to automatically select all
The app doesn't allow you to unselect on person when choosing split equally. After unselecting on person and confirming it still shows split equally.

Couple: option to pay with two accounts simultaneously
Add the opportunity to pay with two accounts (equally). II think this solves the couple issue when payed with a joint bank account, all other features remain.

Uneven splitting + Custom tip for plates app
It’d be great if you could split various amounts unevenly (using fractions or another method). For example, A, B, C, D, and E were at a restaurant for E’s birthday. A and E get a drink to share, but A, B, C, and D are covering E’s bill. So A is covering half the drink cost + (1/4)*the other half of the drink cost. The rest of B, C, and D are splitting the remaining drink cost.
Allow inputting of custom tip at the end instead of using specific percentages to determine tip. For example, maybe my exact tip amount…

Provide a Dark Mode option for the website too, please. Thank you!
Just like the Splitwise app for Android was recently updated to include a Dark Mode option, I was hoping we could get a similar option for the website as well. Nothing much, just a toggle switch at the top of the page will do!

Mass upload of expenses ( excel / gdocs )
It would be great to be able to upload a spreadsheet with past mass expenses in order to quickly merge other services to Splitwise and keep complete past records before app adoption.
Ex. Date / Currency / Value / Friend ID / Category / Split % / Group

Please add a button on every transaction to move the items up and down easily so that it can be easily organized in an user-defined order.

Edit expense with unsubscribed / permanently deleted user
I would like to edit an expense that has an unsubscribed / permanently deleted user in it who has since been removed from the group. I can not edit the transaction since they are no longer in the group, and I can not add them back to the group because their account is deleted. If I remembered their original email, I could actually add them back, but I don't and I can't see what the original email address was anywhere else in the UI even though the name shows up everywhere in old transactions.

Support negative amounts for refunds
I know it's already possible to log a reimbursement in the web app, but that is working poorly in my opinion. Yes it keeps the balance correct, but if you look at the report it still shows as an expense (ie. buying electronics for $500 and getting a partial refund of $200 should yield a total expense per category of $300, not $700 as is currently happening).
It would be great to have a way to distinguish refunds.
This could be achieved by having a negative amount or some additional flag.3 votes -
Have the menu areas be sticky and the center transaction area be scrollable
anything that you have to scroll to the top to do like adding an expense changing account etc should be static and the transaction portion should scroll. I can help with this if given access! :)
