Make edits and new expenses easier to distinguish visually
One of the most confusing features of this great product is how similar edits to existing expenses and new expenses look. I think it would be better to make the link between the previous and the new edited expense more explicit (especially when renaming)
5 votesInteresting suggestion. We will discuss and see if we can balance multiple visual states without making the app more confusing.

Offer the choice to receive emails plain text
Your emails are in HTML. This is nice because they look good. However, plain-text emails have their own advantages:
- they are more suitable to assistive technology
- they are easier to manipulate by text-based tools
While most people will prefer HTML-based emails, it would be nice to give the choice.
3 votesHey Damien! I believe that we already send all of our emails as multipart emails – that means they contain both an HTML version and a plain text version of the email, which allows your email program to choose which version it wants to display. I’ll pass on a suggestion about adding a user setting to ONLY receive plain text emails, as well.

Total money spent VS. Individual share of money (in a month)
Hi Team,
After activating the splitwise pro feature, i can see the graph feature in my account for expenses over a period of time.
But what i think will be much more useful is my share of those expenses throughout the timeline.
For example, on 10th of a month i spent 10k split between 4 people as rent.
Then in the graph it should show my expenditure on that date as 2.5k which is 1/4th of 10k .
This is how i will know on which day how much is my expenditure exactly, and not how much i lent. In…
5 votesFair enough! Thanks for the feedback, that makes sense. To be clear, the X/Y axis is a balance, not total spending, but you are correct about the pie chart.
Currently, you CAN see your share of things month by month via the “charts” tab on the upper right of the website, and then view full details to see only you share. But I’m leaving this under review to see if any other Pro users feel the same way.
Best,

Ifttt integration for automated expense management
Using split wise in ifttt recipes like outputting to a google spreadsheet for example.
95 votesWanted to let you know that Splitwise is now supported on Zapier, a platform very similar to IFTTT: https://zapier.com/zapbook/splitwise/
Unfortunately we have been unable to make gains re: being added to the IFTTT platform. Thanks for your patience.

provide option to disable venmo and/or paypal
I don't have venmo, and paypal repayments are a pain. If I could disable both so that my friends don't attempt to repay me with them, it would be very nice. Obviously this is an option that I set on my account that affects what other people see when they go to 'settle up'.
96 votesHey there – very sorry for the trouble! We would love to add a “this is how I like to be repaid” feature that would let you specify your favorite payment services and the IDs you use on each platform. Can’t say exactly when this will get implemented (we’re a really tiny team) but it’s on the radar. Thanks for your patience.

We are making big changes to our ‘reoccurring bill’ infrastructure / interface over the next year. This seems like something we could potentially include. Thanks!

Make simplify debts more accessible
The simplify debts feature is excellent and I use it all the time. However, It's currently hidden in the settings menu and I think that it should be out front and center for everyone to see!
21 votesWe’ve actually made this feature less accessible over time as we found any people we’re confused by this. We are working on some changes to make it more understandable and will probably make it easier to turn on when we think we’ve got a good explanation for it.

Automate currency based on location
I travel a lot and have to remember to set my default currency at the beginning and end of every trip, or alternatively change currency with every expense added (yawn!). Would be great to have the OPTION of location awareness. If turned on it would choose the currency of whatever country I'm in and perhaps a simple override button to use my default currency.
10 votesThanks for the great idea! Allowing an option of location awareness for this makes sense.

Make each entry in "Recent activity" pop open the relevant expense
Currently, clicking on an item in "Recent activity" takes you to the group where the expense resides, but it doesn't actually show you the relevant entry in that group. Clicking on one of these entries should take you to the relevant group AND pop open the edit dialog for the expense, or at least highlight the expense on the list.
18 votesWe’ve got a version of this on the mobile apps. I expect we’ll bring something similar to the web app when we can find the time.

"Who paid" column in Excel export
When you export your data to Excel there should be an additional column indicating who paid for each expense.
53 votesOur next update to the Excel feature is to bring it to mobile. Not sure when we’ll have the bandwidth to consider functionality on the whole. Sorry for any inconvenience! Zoe

.. add settings for the picture-quality of the uploaded receipt?
Because sometimes it seems the picture is really low res while the original photo on the phone is high res.
19 votesSorry for the trouble! We try to strike a good balance between image size and picture quality (I think we generally crop images to 1000×1000px). I’m not sure we’ll add a manual setting for image quality, but hopefully we can keep making improvements to allow for better images.

Hi there,
Thanks for the suggestion. Currently printable monthly summaries and statistics are only available on our website. I’m leaving this under review to see how many other users would appreciate this feature.

Hey there,
Could you give us some more information about what exactly would you like to have in your signature?

Automatically recalculate share, when new people getting added to the group.
Sometimes many expenses are added before everyone joins the group. The shares should auto recalculate if others join. For instance if I have a group of 5 people, and have a bill divided among all the group. Each person is charged $2. But later, we add in the remaining 5 people to the group, each person should automatically get recalculated to $1. Currently I have to manually add people in to the group expenses.
42 votesThanks for the suggestion! I can see how this would be useful, though we’d also want to make sure that we don’t accidentally add people to bills that they SHOULDN’T be involved in. (For example, a lot of people use Splitwise to keep track of apartments, group trips, etc where people may come and go at different points in time.) For now, apologies for the inconvenience!

Notify amount due depending on specified amount
User can select specified amount in there app settings. if any of his/her friend exceeded that amount (owe or lent) they should get notification.
2 votesThanks for the suggestion! I can see how this would be useful, so I’ll pass on the suggestion. I know we’d love to make some updates to the way we do reminders/messaging!

Pick a date using calendar layout (i.e. the layout in calendar apps), replacing the date/month/year scroll
It will be easier to pick a date using calendar layout, as sometimes if we use date scroll, we may miss the date/month/year and need to scroll it again.
23 votesThanks for the suggestion! I can see how this would be nice, so I’ll add it to our list of possible improvements for future updates :)

Support non-US date formats
Hi,
Can I suggest you add support for non-USA date formats. Only the USA uses MM/DD/YYYY (^1), so it would be nice to be able to choose to show dates as YYYY-MM-DD and DD-MM-YYYY as well. Ditto for the first day of the week being Sunday in the calendar: the international standards have Monday as the first day of the week.
Thanks,
Pete8 votesThis seems like something we might do int he future.

Most of our user testing has indicated that people understand “you owe” a bit more easily than “I owe”, which is why we’ve gone with that decision for now. Still, we’re definitely open to changing in the future if we find that it helps people understand what’s going on!

Add image/PDF from cloud storage service (Drive, Dropbox support)
I download electronic (PDF) versions of all my expense statements (electric bill, gas bill, etc) and save them to a folder in Google Drive. It would be great if I could attach the PDF file from Google Drive (or Dropbox, Box, iCloud whatever) to an expense, much like you can already attach a photo from the photo library.
21 votesInteresting idea! This isn’t anywhere on our timeline yet, but I’ll pass on the suggestion and add it to our list of possible future improvements.
