connect t mobile family plan directly to splitwise
we are 8 people sharing a family plan of t mobile, and some of us have bought devices from t mobile, some make international calls, so the charges are different for everyone and splitting them every month is a real pain

Group Permissions
i know that you already thought about it for sure
but my idea at least the remind button
other users can remind others for spamming only
note that i created the group and A,B is membersA remind B thats he own me
and he keeps doing that foreverif there is permissions at least on that point it will be great
3 votesThanks for the suggestion. Just to clarify, my understanding is you want permissions specifically to stop a friend from sending you reminders?

Allow changing of subscription values
Hi guys,
I think it would be great if we can change the values of subscription. Currently, if I want to pay more or less for you guys, I have to cancel my subscription and start a new one.
It would be nice to avoid all these tasks to change the value.

allow formatting of numbers
may be useful to have a setting whereby you can change the format of the numbers, e.g. decimals, show "1000" as "1,000" etc. thanks
34 votesGreat idea, leaving it under review since we tend to be pretty conservative about adding new settings. Thanks for submitting!

Simplifying removal of users from a group
Its a pain to delete all the expenses of a user before removing him. I suggest that there should be a dialogue box which pops up asking the user who should the debt be passed on to in the group instead of showing an error saying that you cant remove that person. So for example if A is leaving the group where B and C owe him 105 and 110 respectively. Then if D is removing A, he/she should pay A 215 and then the app should show that B owes A 105, and C owes A 110. Doing this…
6 votesI think I see your use case. I’m not sure if we’d implement it the way you suggest, but basically the issue is with groups that are very similar but changing slightly from week to week. I recommend increasing the size of the group and then unchecking people who are not there from the “split equally dialog” rather than removing them from the group. But I’ll leave the suggestion open as it’s an interesting point.

Allow manual archiving of group
Manual archiving of group should be allowed. If the trip is over and everyone is settled, I'd want to get rid of the group still keeping the record in archives.
168 votesI think this is a great idea! It’s not on the roadmap yet due to lots of other priorities voted higher, but one we’ve discussed and agreed totally makes sense. Thanks for submitting.

Provide screenshots of the Pro experience
I love Splitwise, but the one problem I have is with multi-currency trips (the main reason my friends and I use it). It is really easy to muddle things up, even with separate groups, which we tried this time round. The main problem is that your entire interface was made for single currency and multi-currency feels bolted on.
If Pro solves that, I'd be more than happy to sign up for it, but you're not making it easy to find out how it would work and I currently don't have the trust that it'll solve the currency problem.
Providing screenshots…
1 voteFair enough! Email support at splitwise.com, happy to send screenshots, it’s something we should put there. The currency converter works quite well, I’ve used it a few times myself.

Interesting idea. I understand the use case – “don’t settle up until I add everything” is something I’ve heard friends of mine say anecdotally. So thanks for the suggestion!

provide option to disable venmo and/or paypal
I don't have venmo, and paypal repayments are a pain. If I could disable both so that my friends don't attempt to repay me with them, it would be very nice. Obviously this is an option that I set on my account that affects what other people see when they go to 'settle up'.
96 votesHey there – very sorry for the trouble! We would love to add a “this is how I like to be repaid” feature that would let you specify your favorite payment services and the IDs you use on each platform. Can’t say exactly when this will get implemented (we’re a really tiny team) but it’s on the radar. Thanks for your patience.

send out a bit of details while simplifying debts.
bravo for all your efforts team! we have been using the app for a long period of time now. A couple weeks back you guys introduced a logic that would simplify/adjustdebts accordingly. While most of auch simplifications are trivial, some are not! And the intimation mail only mentions that splitwise has adjusted debts, I request you guys to add a set of details in the same mail, which may include who all were included and before/after of debt amouts. I am also a developer, I guess this would not be a hefty change ;-) Thanks guys, keep rocking!
2 votesThanks for the suggestion! We’d love to include better details when simplifying debts, but it’s actually surprisingly hard to show those details in an intelligent way :) The math is very simple, but we’ve found that showing the complete data often confuses people – especially in very old groups, where the “unsimplified” totals might include thousands of dollars of payments to each other (which all cancel each other out).
Still, we definitely want to show more information! Hopefully we’ll be able to try a few new designs this year and find something that works. Until then, apologies for the inconvenience!

support item in itemized bill 'consumed' by X, but paid for by person(s) Y, Z
Every friday, I organize a group dinner. Frequently, people attend who are in a relationship. Sometimes, even non-monogamous (poly) relationships.
It would be really awesome if I could enter an itemized bill in this way:
item, cost, participants
eggrolls, 8.00, Janet, Steve, Tim, April
pad thai, 10.00, Janet
basil chicken, 10.00, Steve
fried chicken over fried rice, 10.00, TimTax: 8.75%
Tip: 20.00%People pay for another:
Janet: paid for by Steve, Timand thus get this break down:
egg rolls: $3.00 for steve, $3.00 for tim, $2.00 for april
pad thai: $5.00 for steve, $5.00 for timand then…
4 votesThanks for the suggestion! I can see how this would be useful for group dinners and such. We haven’t worked on our itemized bill form for a while, as it’s a pretty infrequently used feature on Splitwise, but I’ll pass on your suggestion and add it to our list of possible improvements.

Auto-genereated "Settle up balances" transation should be "Payment" not "General"
When I settle up balances with a friend, the corresponding transactions get added in the groups where me and respective friend is part of. This auto-generated entry is marked with category "General" . Instead of that it should be marked as "Payment". So, it would help in tracking my expenses with category.
13 votesSorry for the trouble! We’d definitely like to improve the way “Settle all balances” works – I’ll pass on this suggestion and see if it’s something we can fix when we work on improving our settling up stuff.

Ability to change country setting
I love the Splitwise integration with Venmo, it makes settling up so much more easier. Though I had to struggle a bit to understand why I was not able to see that option on Splitwise when I moved to the US last year and installed Venmo on my phone.
Turns out, I had set up my Splitwise account back in India, and since Venmo integration is available only in the US I was not able to get the "Settle with Venmo" link on my app/web page because my country was still set to India. I had to contact Splitwise support…
6 votesSorry for the trouble! Yeah, our automatic country detection could use some improvements to detect when someone moves, or when someone travels for a vacation. We probably can’t allow a person to choose ANY country they want (PayPal in particular has some requirements and restrictions we must enforce), but we might be able to re-detect someone’s country with a button on the account settings page, or something like that.

separate expenses that don't alter the nett balance owed eg for a car loan to a friend
I would like to have the option of entering a record of money I've lent to a person that is separate to the running nett total eg for a large purchase that I've lent them money for and they are paying me back with interest that amount over time but that is seperate to everyday Bills which we do want to split and settle up in real time
7 votesThanks for the suggestion – I’ll pass it on! For now, my advice would be to create separate groups for the different kinds of debts that you’re tracking, which lets you keep multiple balances with the same person.

Make it easier to change a user in a group
Hi there! I encountered a problem where I made a typo in someone's email address, then added a bunch of expenses, and then Splitwise wouldn't let me change the user because she wasn't "settled up." I tried deleting the user from the group and adding the correct user, but it said I couldn't edit the expenses because there was a deleted member. Eventually I had to delete the entire group and start over.
2 votesVery sorry for the trouble! If a group member hasn’t logged in yet, you should be able to update their email address from the group settings page on our website, or from the friend settings screen on our mobile app. We’re working on some improvements to make this clearer, especially on mobile, so I apologize for all the unnecessary confusion!

Make a button for moving settle-balance from one group to another (i.e. from trip group to some general group)
Usually you have a group of closer friends with whom you often use splitwise and for them you want to have general, never closing, splitwise group. Now for some trips you will very often have some of those friends going with you, as well as some other people. So once the trip is over, it would be highly useful if for those closer friends you can transfer remaining settle balance to the general group. Right now that has to be done manually, meaning virtually settling in a trip group and creating same amount expense in general group. What we need…
61 votesThanks for the suggestion! We have a very basic version of this on our website – the “Simplify debts with this person” button, buried under friend settings – but it’s very hard to find, and it’s not very powerful (you can’t specify which group you want to move balances into). I’ll pass on a note about this and see if we can clean up that feature at some point soon :)

right bar
make the gear icon at the top right not look disabled when it's not selected
3 votesThanks for the suggestion! We definitely want to make some design tweaks to the website, especially the sidebar – hopefully soon!

Thanks for the suggestion! There’s not any way to do this from our mobile apps right now, but there are a few possibilities on our website – if you go to a group, you can either pull up a printable summary (click the “view printable summary” link above each month’s expenses) or export your bills to a spreadsheet (click the settings icon at the top of the right sidebar, then click “Export as spreadhsheet”). Hope that helps a bit for now!
