Track Credit card
Hi Just like we have groups, it would be great if you can allow credit card tracking too on real time. I would like to create a card group where in I will post all my expenses and keep track to check with the statement I receive at the month end form the credit card agency.
Currently every time I enter an expense I have to use the split equal option and remove the card from the expense...
13 votesThanks Anon for the feedback – we’re definitely thinking about how best to integrate with existing payment methods and remove data entry, and this is a great idea.
Cheers,

Spit Tip equally (separate from itemised bill and tax)
When eating out it makes sense to split the bill as per who ordered what, but with a tip an option to split equally would be nice.
Sometimes the dishes aren't too far apart in price and you are paying for the service, so we frequently split the tip equally.
5 votesHi AC,
Thanks for the suggestion! Always happy to hear suggestions for ways that people like to split. Do you mean for core Splitwise or Plates?
Cheers,

Reauthorize Venmo
It makes me re-athorize with Venmo each time? Instead of just storing the credentials? A bit annoying when trying to batch-settle up
4 votesHi Brian,
Fair enough, and sorry for the trouble. Eventually, you won’t have to re-authorize each time. It will probably be a few months before allow anyone to store a payment credential but we love the idea.
Cheers,

include 'View Printable Summary' option on Mobile App
The option to View Printable Summary in Web is great. It will be quite useful in mobile app as well if it comes with an option to email the friends involved in the group.
5 votesThanks for the suggestion! We’d definitely like to add something like the printable summary view to our mobile apps in the future. It may take us some time, as we’re working on some other features at the moment, but hopefully you’ll see that feature soon!

Separate the total owed per person
I think it's quite intimidating to see the total amount owed for all persons as a lump sum. Could we have the option to choose how we see that amount? For example have the option to see the total owed to one friend at time on the home page instead of the amount owed to all persons. This should be for both the mobile and the browser versions
3 votesThanks for the suggestion and the feedback – it’s interesting to hear you find seeing the total intimidating. We use that total on mobile as a navigational element as well (tapping on total, total owed and total you are owed filters the list of friends), so we’re not likely to remove this in the short or medium term. But it’s interesting and I’ll leave this open to see if others also feel this way. Thanks! – Jon

Allow custom messages to be sent to group members from Splitwise Group
I would like to send a custom message to specific members of a Group directly from Splitwise. I've tried using the whiteboard function but that doesn't seem to work very well.
31 votesAre you aware of the ability to send reminders, or comment on specific expenses? You can send an email to a fellow group member by clicking on their name in the right sidebar, then clicking the “Send reminder” button. You can leave comments on specific expenses by clicking the expense, then entering a comment in the comment box – the other people involved in the bill should get an email about your comment. I hope that helps!

Send report to all
One should be able to send a report With all expenses and debts to everyone in a Group for setllement.
2 votesI’ll pass on the suggestion! For now, you might want to check out the printable summary on our website. There’s a link to a monthly printable summary at the top of each month of expenses – if you click it, you can see a summary of all expenses for that month, or all expenses for all months if you prefer.

show numbers of friends
In Sweden we have a payment provider called "Swish" which lets you do direct bank transfers via mobile phone no. It would be awesome if you could actually see your friends numbers to be able to register a payment to them. This could also be solved by a free text box called "Payment information" where I could specify something like "Swish: +46733xxxx"
For others that don't use this, it would also be good to be able to show the number so you could give them a call to settle up.
11 votesThanks for the suggestion! We’ve actually thought about something like this before – a text box to let people indicate how they’d like to get paid back (e.g. “Please send all payments via PayPal”, etc). It’s been on our list of possible improvements for a while, so I’ll bring it up again at our next meeting to remind people about it :)

Show the transaction date for person to person payments on the transaction list and in the transaction summary
Currently, on the transaction list, person-to-person payments are correctly sorted by their payment dates, but instead of showing the date of the transaction there is just a $ sign. Bill payments show dates, but it would be handy to see the dates of these 'settle-up' transactions without clicking on them.
Additionally, when you click on one of these transactions, the only way to see the transaction date is to go to 'Edit payment'. The transaction summary view only shows the date that the transaction was added to Splitwise.
11 votesSorry for the trouble! I’ve just added the date to the payment details screen on the web (though if the date of the transaction is the same as the date it was added, it will only show the date it was added). I’ll pass on your feedback about showing the date directly in the transaction list – if we decide to make that change, it will likely take a while longer to make it to web + iPhone + Android.

Option to remove decimal display per currency
Just as the title says. Simple, give us an option to not display the .00 decimal in the app, or even better, determine and specify which currencies actually use decimal point amount of money.
I live in Korea I use Korean Won, naturally, which isn't applicable for decimal notation and I'm pretty sure quite a few more (if not most) currencies don't use decimals.
As a result, entering costs in Splitwise app now requires entering two more zeroes after the dot. KRW 38,500.00 is a pain...
44 votesVery sorry for the trouble! Long-term, we would definitely like to add better support for international currencies with different numbers of decimals, but it will probably be a while before we get around to it. The vast majority of our users use currencies with 2 decimal places, and adding proper support for 0 or 3 decimal places (the other two common values for world currencies) will require significant technical effort both on our servers and in our mobile apps.
Again, apologies for the inconvenience!

to make it possible to edit the remind email
Your app is now already in my favorite top 5 list, but it would be nice to add one more feature.
When I send a remind email, a standard text is already suggested. It's possible to edit that text but it would be really handy to change the standard text so I dont have to edit it every time I want to send the email.
I already asked this question but I think I wasn't clear about what I meant.
Thanks to make such a great app!3 votesAha, got it – thanks for the suggestion! I don’t think we’ve heard this idea before, so I’ll pass it on at our next team meeting, and see if it’s something we want to add to our to-do list.

Add a date wise separator
Please add a date wise separator so that expenses can be segregated between dates of a trip.
13 votesJust to be clear: are you asking for each day’s expenses (e.g. June 1, June 2, etc) to be separated? If so, I’ll pass on that suggestion and see what the rest of the team thinks.

settle up as of <date>
the ability to select a bill and settle up at that point, so settle up all bills before this (and perhaps insert that payment into the timeline there)
so if I had 3 bills and I owed $80
April Gas : $20
march Food: $40
March Gas $20I could select "March Food" and settle up all my previous payments (march food and gas) and after it would look like this
you Owe $20
April Gas : $20
Rich paid $60
march Food: $40
March Gas $20THANKS!
42 votesWe’re not currently planning to add something like this as we believe it would not be used by many users and would therefore unnecessarily complicate the interface. If this idea gets a lot of votes, we’ll reconsider.

Allow miles for car sharing
I give my roommates ride to their office and shopping since they don't have a car. So I want to be able to enter the miles along with IRS recommended mileage expense rate or custom rate.
13 votesInteresting – I’ll pass on the suggestion! I know we’ve considered making some kind of car/gas calculator for road trips and carpooling and such, but I don’t know if we’ve thought about it recently, so I’ll bring it up again at our next planning meeting.

Add Passbook support!
Would be great if passbook was supported, we could quickly check to see the split balance of someone I regularly split lunch with...
2 votesInteresting suggestion – I’ll pass it on! My current understanding is that Passbook has some issues with keeping perfectly in sync (i.e. the Passbook only syncs its passes once every few hours), but it may be that that behavior has changed, or that the behavior will get better with iOS 8.

Track a bill when simplify debts in ON
We use keep the "Simplify Debts" option ON to reduce the number of settlements required within the group. Due to this, I don't get to know how the bill gets split up and simplified, and settlements are for completely different (calculated) amounts. Is there a way I can track how the bill amount got split up / simplified amongst the group
12 votesVery sorry for the trouble! We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to explain why you owe what you owe when simplify debts is on, and unfortunately it’s fiendishly difficult (since it often ends up depending on a chain of expenses that goes back for months). Still, we hope we can make some updates in the future that help make it clearer. In the meantime, my apologies for the confusion!

Show contacts that have a balance with a different color.
Why not show the little person icon next to the friends name with a color? Red if you owe them, Green if they owe you? Sometimes you want so see who owe you money individually and I have to go through each contact to see if they owe me or not.
4 votesWe actually tested this at one point and thought that it ended up looking too distracting, but it might be worth reconsidering. I’ll pass on a note about this. In the meantime, you can always get a list of everyone who you have a balance with from the Dashboard screen. Apologies for any inconvenience!

Help answer the question: "Who should pay for this meal?"
I'm out to lunch with a subset of my friends. The bill arrives, we're all on Splitwise, but we're not sure who should pay to lower the overall balance on our Splitwise group, i.e. who owes the most at the table.
Via the Balance tab I can see the answer to this if everyone is present, but there are always a few people missing. I'd like to click "Who should pay?", check the boxes for everyone present, and get an immediate answer.
8 votesWe’ve actually talked about this idea before – we think it’s a very neat concept, but we’re not sure if it merits inclusion in the core Splitwise app, since a lot of Splitwise users actually don’t use Splitwise in this way. However, it’s a great idea for a separate app, either from us in the future or from a 3rd-party developer using our API (http://dev.splitwise.com). Maybe someday! :)

addd option to add previous dues for starters
I just started using this app. No doubt, this is exactly what I was looking for. But previously I used a note taking app for the same purpose and would like to add previous dues to person while starting as a new user. In other words an option to add initial debt to a new user added would be an amazing add on!
1 voteI’ll pass on the suggestion! For now, the easiest way to do this would be to add your friend, then add a bill with that friend for the current amount that they owe you.

add a rollback functionality
Splitwise does a fantastic job with keeping record of everyone's payments and loans. However, in situations where many payments and loans are done among 3 people or more, and not everybody lists it on Splitwise, it can be a pain to figure it all out. It would be great if you you offered a rollback functionality that allowed the users to rollback to the amount payed or owed up to a certain listing or date.
2 votesThis is a good idea, and one we’ve talked about as a team before. Unfortunately there are some technical challenges involved (it’s not always easy to rewind with so many users and bills), but it’s on our list of possible improvements for the future. In the meantime, I’m sorry for the inconvenience!
For now, you may want to try looking at the printable monthly summary on the web, which includes a record of what your balance was at the beginning and end of that month.
