Add itemized split method to iOS app?
I love using itemized splits on the website, but can't seem to find this feature in the iOS app. Any plans to bring it to iOS?
Thanks!
127 votesUpdating this since it’s been a while. We’re still leaving this as a possible future improvement. This is not a very popular feature on our website. Figuring out the design for mobile apps continues to be a challenge. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Personal expenditure chart
I love the monthly expenditure pie chart idea. But currently I can only see the break-up of my expenses when I click on a friend, and it only shows me the break up of the expenses I have in common with that particular friend. It would be useful if I could view the monthly break-up of my expenses independent of the friends (maybe a link through my dashboard). It would be even more awesome If I could sort the table below the chart by the amount, to better understand where I am spending more.
116 votesBetter charts and a better dashboard are on our to-do list :) We’re still debating exactly how we want these features to work. Thanks for the suggestions!

Add Siri Shortcuts integration
It looks like integration with Siri was mentioned before Siri Shortcuts was introduced in iOS 12, but I'd like to bring it up again and mention a few use cases (some complex, some more simple) that I'd personally find useful:
- For Splitwise Plates, add the ability to open the app, finish a bill/table, and then "share" the output as a dictionary/map/hash to shortcuts. Presumably you could then pass the output over to Splitwise itself, or just loop through them and request on Venmo/Paypal/etc.
This one might require a little more thought, since at present "naming" plates or associating them with…

Unequal Bill Dividing Calculation
One of my most common tasks with Splitwise is dividing a bill unequally with one other person. It would be very handy if entering the amount for one person would automatically calculate the remaining amount owed for the other individual.
113 votesWhoops, we’re still considering this idea. It does sounds like a useful improvement in the add expense form.

Auto-detect category by querying previous expenses
For example, imagine I go to a restaurant called "Alice and Bob".
1st time I add an expense, I type "Alice and Bob" in the Description and select "Dining out" as category.
2nd time, I type "Alice and Bob" the app may select "Dining out" by itself.Splitwise is still awesome without this feature, but it would definitely be something nice to have!
104 votesThanks for the suggestion! Yep, this definitely makes sense – right now, we auto-detect certain words like “dinner”, but we don’t do any intelligent matching based on your past expenses. I’m not sure how technically involved this would be, but I’ll add it to our list of possible improvements for the future :)

Plates Integration
Find a way to integrate Plates with Split Wise so calculations can be ported between apps.
96 votesWe definitely want to improve Plates + Splitwise integration over time! Right now, if you share a Plates bill with a friend, they can click on the link and then save their share as a Splitwise IOU. We haven’t had a chance to make updates to Plates in a while, but in the future, we hope to let you do that straight from the Plates app. Until then, apologies for the inconvenience!

provide option to disable venmo and/or paypal
I don't have venmo, and paypal repayments are a pain. If I could disable both so that my friends don't attempt to repay me with them, it would be very nice. Obviously this is an option that I set on my account that affects what other people see when they go to 'settle up'.
96 votesHey there – very sorry for the trouble! We would love to add a “this is how I like to be repaid” feature that would let you specify your favorite payment services and the IDs you use on each platform. Can’t say exactly when this will get implemented (we’re a really tiny team) but it’s on the radar. Thanks for your patience.

Ifttt integration for automated expense management
Using split wise in ifttt recipes like outputting to a google spreadsheet for example.
95 votesWanted to let you know that Splitwise is now supported on Zapier, a platform very similar to IFTTT: https://zapier.com/zapbook/splitwise/
Unfortunately we have been unable to make gains re: being added to the IFTTT platform. Thanks for your patience.

enable mass editing of expenses
I have a bunch of expenses that I want to put in a group but I can't find a way to do it other than one at a time. There should be a way to edit several fields on multiple expenses at once. I see there's a suggestion called "Bulk Edit Expense" but it hasn't been commented on since 2012.
By the way, I just clicked to sign in with Google and got this security message from Chrome: You attempted to reach feedback.splitwise.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as *.uservoice.com. This may be caused by a…
93 votesUpdating this as it’s been a while. We’ve discussed this a few times and can see how it would be useful in a few cases (such as mass-moving expenses between groups – if you or anyone else needs help with that, feel free to send us a support email). We’ll keep it open for now for further voting and comments.

Split reimbursements unequally
After a weekend getaway we returned some unused supplies that had already been entered on Splitwise. We split costs using shares (some people were paying for them and their partner's share) and thought we could add reimbursements in a similar fashion. Unfortunately it appears reimbursements may only be shared evenly.
We worked around this by editing the original expense which wasn't as smooth as I've come to expect from Splitwise.
89 votesHi Nikesh,
Thanks for the idea – the workaround you chose makes sense, and sorry / thanks for your patience. We really appreciate your feedback.
I’m going to leave this suggestion as under review to see how many other people are having the issue. Reimbursements are a tricky feature that we are happy to support, but adding additional functionality to them it is not currently a high priority since they are not very commonly used. As a result, I’m sorry I can’t promise a specific place in the roadmap for your suggestion.
Best,

Weekly Reminders
a setting that would automatically send a reminder every week or so for bills
89 votesWe currently send automatic monthly reminders, but we’d love to add an option for weekly reminders at some point, as well as potentially other options.

The Facebook invite system has changed a lot over the years, and it makes it hard for users to receive updates, notifications, etc. Also, many users do not like getting invites through Facebook.
We are still open to doing this, and we’ll leave it under review for further voting or commentary. For now, we recommend you send invites via email or SMS.

Ability to add more than one picture
At the moment, it seems each expense can only handle a single picture. I suggest that ability to handle more than one picture should be supported. For example, I might want to add a copy of the receipt as well as a picture of the item.
87 votesMakes sense! Ideally, I think we’d like to add the ability to include pictures in comments, which would let you add as many pictures as you want for an expense. This hasn’t made it on to our roadmap yet, but hopefully it’s something we can consider in the future.

Google Assistant integration
It would be nice to have a Google Assistant integration for Splitwise, so that I don't have to pull out my phone to add an item to Splitwise and could talk to my Google Home instead.
E.g.
Hey Google, talk to Splitwise. How can I help you?
I have bought a <something> for 5€.
Ok, with whom do you want to split with?
<Some person(s)>
(> Do you want to split equally?
Yes)
Ok, I have added <something> for 5€ to your expenses list and split it with <some person(s)>. What else can I do for you?86 votesThanks for the suggestion! This is a neat idea, I’m not sure if /when we’d be able to add an something like this. I’ll leave this under review for now.

Disable Debt Simplification
An option to disable debt shuffling within friends.
83 votesDebt simplification can be disabled in groups on the group settings screen – just turn the “simplify debts?” switch to off under “Advanced settings”.
We don’t currently have a setting to block yourself from debt simplifications among friends, but it’s something we may consider in the future. In the meantime, you can revert a debt simplification at any time by deleting any part of it, and the entire transaction will be undone.

Add expenses via email
It would be killer to be able to email a set email address (ie, bills@splitwise) with a bill name and attachment and have it automatically added as an expense and add the attachment.
83 votesUpdating since it’s been a while. We still really like this idea, unfortunately, there’s not a lot of momentum around it. We also haven’t figured out the best way to implement it yet. We’ll leave it open for now for further voting and comments.

Be able to scan receipts from gallery/image file
As of now, scanning receipt for making an itemized bill opens the camera app. I want to be able to choose (one or more) image files from gallery (or other places) because I don't have the receipt to take a picture now but had already taken a picture before
82 votesThanks for the suggestion! I’m sorry that our current receipt scanner doesn’t support this. I’ll leave this open for now.

Ability to select transactions from bank or card history
Can ask users to link cards and bank accounts in order to show transactions in split wise so user can select transactions instead of having to do manual entry. Plaid makes a great API (demo.plaid.com) for this: harvey@plaid.com

More robust graphs/trends on mobile
The ability to see YTD spending, break down by cost type, etc. would be great. Also, perhaps a spreadsheet view of expenses.
79 votesThanks for the suggestion! Our website currently has a few more advanced charts and graphs (totals by category, printable monthly summaries), and our iPhone app has a few basic charts as of v4.0 (group totals, export as spreadsheet). We’re hoping to bring similar features to Android soon, and to add more features as time goes on :)

make a Splitwise Pro account for couples
My partner and I use Splitwise and would both see th value in using Splitwise Pro, but we think it is a little unfeasible to spend $60-80 on the product for the same features. Currently I am the only one that has it and if we want to look in to our spending in depth we have to use my phone instead of what is currently available.
Would it be possible to have a family account set up, where we can share pro? Like Google Play Family, where you pay $5 extra to add people to your app accounts.
78 votesThanks for the suggestion! Makes sense, I’ll leave this open for further voting for now.
