have the option to add users by name only.
I have someone that owes me money that doesn't have an email address! I want to manage her expenses on my side, but I would like to do it through splitwise. It keeps everything in one place.
4 votesWe’ve been considering allowing friends without email addresses, though we haven’t yet come to a decision. For now, you could try creating a group with this person in it (groups allow names without email addresses), or adding the person with a variation on your own Gmail address (e.g. shawn+your.friend@gmail.com). Gmail ignores everything after the “+”, and those messages will end up forwarded to your own Gmail account.

Make Payment/Bill Due Date Sub Totals (Due now, Due next week, Upcoming bills etc.)
Make it possible to add bills and set the due date for payments, then display a sub total of overdue payments.
Currently overdue bills are grouped into the total for bills that will be paid in the future. It would be great if the bill owner could set a due date for the bills, so the payees could then see a sub total of overdue bills, bills coming up, and total bills owed. This could be achieved with a filter on the web app, and integrated into the phone apps later.
Reminders could then also be automated, and much more…

Allow custom categories
User defined categories that do not fit into default categories
669 votesWe aren’t planing to add support for custom categories in the near future. We’re considering better ways to allow people to sort expenses into categories other than the ones we’ve provided. In the meantime, if there are particular important categories you feel are missing, feel free to email us with a suggestion at support@splitwise.com.

Feature reques: Move personal balance to group
In the knowledge base article "Why am I settled up in my friendship but still have balances with my friend in groups?", I learned that I can move the balance with A in group G to personal balance with A. However, I need to do the other way around: move the personal balance with A to group G. The story is like this: I owe $1 from A, B, C, D personally and separately, however, they are all in group G, so I would rather to move them to G so that I owe the group $4. Further, if there…
17 votesDefinitely makes sense! We’re working on better ways of settling up across both personal debts and group debts, because we know it’s a pain in the neck right now :) We hope to have new features to help with that soon!

Create "Create Plan" Option Under Payment
Hello!
Wonderful job on the improvements over the past few months. I really appreciate the support I have gotten using this wonderful service!
I recently needed to borrow a good amount of money from my father as I am between jobs. Right now there's a huge balance, but there's also an understanding that I will pay him back over time now that I've found gainful employment.
This debt is the only thing I don't have a website to go to that tells me what my minimum payment is. I know that other debt situations with my friends/family in my life…
26 votesWe’ve been using Splitwise for this kind of thing internally for a while, so this could be something we add in the future, though it seems like a rarely used feature.

make a way to transfer debt between two people
i go out with two of my friends, who they dont interact with each other on their daily lives. One of them paid for all of us. So he is stuck with a dept to a guy that he barely knows. Best solution is to transfer the dept to me. In order to do that right know we need two people and three different transactions. Apart from that, I want to let you guys know you do an amazing job! Thanks!
57 votesThanks for the suggestion! I can definitely see how this would be a useful feature, but it’s also a fairly rare case in our experience, so it’s not yet on our roadmap. If we do eventually add it, we’ll want to make sure that it works in a non-confusing way, as we’ve found that various other features that transfer debt (the “simplify debts” setting in groups, etc) can sometimes cause serious confusion for the people involved.

Send Reminder to all people in a group
When we send a reminder, there should be an option available to send it to all members of the group, instead of sending it to individuals.
160 votesI can see how group-wide emails would be useful, and we’d definitely like to add that feature in the future.

Split capability for who paid
It will be nice to have the same ability for who paid that exists when friends are being charged like percentage, shares, etc for e.g. if two people paid and 10 people were part of a dinner. 1 person paid for 7 people and 1 paid for 3. There could also be a scenario where two people paid 50% of the total bill split among 10 friends
5 votesInteresting suggestion :) The vast majority of expenses on Splitwise are paid by only one person, so this isn’t a high priority for us, but we’ll chat about this at our next team meeting. Thanks for the feedback!

Adjust bar length in dashboard according to currency rates
I currently have both Dollars and Korean Wons in my Dashboard. Sadly, the bars of the dollar amounts are tiny, since they are overwhelmed by the 20,000 Wons. Interestingly enough, 20,000 Wons are just $20. You should do currency conversion and adjust the sizes accordingly.
7 votesSorry about this! We know the dashboard bar graph isn’t that great if you use multiple currencies – improving that is on our to-do list, but not very high priority, since very few of our users use multiple currencies. Still, we hope to update it at some point!

Create bill templates
I add bills at the end of the month...when I do, there are usually similar groups, for instance, I do groceries at once, but every goshdarn bill I add, I have to redo the changes I made to each successive one, each time it requires several clicks, if I could instead make a template and reuse it, it would make it far easier for me. Or copy an old one and change what I needed. For instance, all you'd need to add is a right click or link that said "create new bill from old" next to the bills when…
29 votesWe’ve been thinking about something like this for monthly utility bills, where the total cost changes month-to-month but everything else stays the same. We’re looking into it!

Add a confirmation box when duplicate entries are added
Please add detection of duplicate entry.
If duplicate entry is detected add another confirmation box for user "do you want to really add ?".12 votesThis would be a very good feature – we’ve talked about it before, but haven’t gotten around to adding it yet. Thanks for the suggestion!

New Product Suggestion - Bank Ledger
I love your platform. You should totally add the ability to allow people to use splitwise as a bank ledger. Essentially it would be the same as your current product save for the other entity in the "group" would be a bank instead of another person.
2 votesThanks for the suggestion! We’d definitely like to include better bank support in the future, though it’ll probably take us a long time to do any actual bank integrations. For now, you could try creating a group, with yourself and one other member called “Bank”, and keep track of a ledger that way…it’s a bit messy, but could be worth a try!

Personal expenditure chart
I love the monthly expenditure pie chart idea. But currently I can only see the break-up of my expenses when I click on a friend, and it only shows me the break up of the expenses I have in common with that particular friend. It would be useful if I could view the monthly break-up of my expenses independent of the friends (maybe a link through my dashboard). It would be even more awesome If I could sort the table below the chart by the amount, to better understand where I am spending more.
116 votesBetter charts and a better dashboard are on our to-do list :) We’re still debating exactly how we want these features to work. Thanks for the suggestions!

Disable Debt Simplification
An option to disable debt shuffling within friends.
83 votesDebt simplification can be disabled in groups on the group settings screen – just turn the “simplify debts?” switch to off under “Advanced settings”.
We don’t currently have a setting to block yourself from debt simplifications among friends, but it’s something we may consider in the future. In the meantime, you can revert a debt simplification at any time by deleting any part of it, and the entire transaction will be undone.

Weekly Reminders
a setting that would automatically send a reminder every week or so for bills
89 votesWe currently send automatic monthly reminders, but we’d love to add an option for weekly reminders at some point, as well as potentially other options.

Email link should directly go to the expense instead of just the group
The URL should contain an extra parameter for expense, and the user should be highlighted that particular expense to make it easier
6 votesThat definitely makes sense – I’ll pass on the suggestion and see if we can add it in a future update.

Allow importing expenses from a Settle Up App
Currently I am using Settle Up and would like to import my expenses in your application
16 votesWe’d definitely like to build more importers for Settle Up and other services!

Display Running Balances
It would be lovely to see the running balances with each transaction. Basically add a column at the right that says "Bob owes me" and the balance at that time, switch it over to "I owe Bob" if one of his transactions puts me in debt. The last transaction should align with the current balance displayed at the top.
73 votesThis is an idea that the team really likes. We’re leaving it under review until we can come up with a design we like.

A ghost Entity
Another feature you could look at adding..
Scenario: 4 people in a house. Bob
goes on leave and should not be billed anything at all, but yet the old
records should remain.
At the easiest level, you could probably get a Ghost check box [not present in the house] on Bob's name and whenever you hit the Add Bill feature, Bob should be default unchecked.
Thanks!17 votesWe have a slightly different solution in mind, but it should handle this issue.
