Allow users to buy a number of items that others can take later
It would be great if Splitwise allowed for one user to enter that they bought a number of items (e.g. bottles of beer), that not immediately have to be split up between the group's users. Others would later just press a button that says "I took a one" and splitwise would figure out the rest.
And maybe warn you if you're out of beer. Cause that's bad.
3 votesWe will probably add the ability to save a split by shares at some point, in which case you would just change the number of shares on the expense for each beer you took, but we do not plan to add a more specific feature to handle this kind of thing at this time.

No provision for dividing previous expenses when new person is added
When we add new person in a group, the calculation starts from that moment itself and we can't divide previous expenses considering new person.
This situation come when large number of people are there in a group and we miss someone from adding by mistake1 voteWe should probably have some feature that can help with this.

Allow Deposits to be maintained.
Eg. If A and B paid 2500 and 1500 for Deposit (of anything) and B takes back the entire 4000, Then B owes A - 2500.
8 votesThanks for the suggestion! I definitely see how this would be useful for apartments and rentals, where deposits can be a pain to figure out.

Bill Share Calculator
Hi guys,
First things first - I love your app/wesbite. It has saved me so much time (and a few disagreements). It's fabulous!
I saw you have a caluclator for fairly calcuating rent. I thought you could add a cacultator that allows you to fairly divvy up bills - I'm currently trying to figure out how much my housemate owes on a bill as she moved in partway during the billing period. I can figure it out by myself, but it would be a lot easier if there was an app or online calculator to do that for me!!
Thanks…
7 votesThanks for the suggestion! You might want to check out our travel calculator (https://secure.splitwise.com/calculators/travel) – it only goes up to 14 days, unfortunately, but it’s designed to handle cases where some people are only around for some parts of the month. You could use it as a rough guidelines for your bills (for example, if the new housemate was only around for 1/5th of the month, treat it like a 5-day vacation where he/she was only present for 1 day). Hope that helps!

Google Android Pay
https://developers.google.com/android-pay/
This should be integrated and is more secure then Venmo.
58 votesAndroid Pay does not currently allow person-to-person money transfers – it’s primarily meant for paying businesses and merchants. If Android Pay or Google Wallet starts to allow free person-to-person money transfers via an API, then we’d definitely be happy to look at adding them as a payment option.

backup data to local or cloud from phone
Backup from phone
12 votesThanks for the follow-up! We include a more comprehensive backup option in Splitwise Pro on web only right now that we will probably bring to mobile eventually. If you have Splitwise Pro (available in your web account settings) there is an option to export a full backup of your entire account under advanced settings in your web account settings.

View balance by month
It would be nice to be able to view balances by specific month (or other time period). My partner and I settle expenses on a monthly basis, but sometimes we add expenses for the current month before the previous month's balance has been settled. Once those expenses are added, it is it difficult to remember what the previous month's balance was.
33 votesThanks for the suggestion! Our mobile apps don’t really support this yet, but we do have something like this on our website – just log in, go to a particular friend or group, and click the “view printable summary” link at the top of each month’s bills. You’ll get a summary that includes balances at the beginning and end of the month, as well as net change for the month.

Add image/PDF from cloud storage service (Drive, Dropbox support)
I download electronic (PDF) versions of all my expense statements (electric bill, gas bill, etc) and save them to a folder in Google Drive. It would be great if I could attach the PDF file from Google Drive (or Dropbox, Box, iCloud whatever) to an expense, much like you can already attach a photo from the photo library.
21 votesInteresting idea! This isn’t anywhere on our timeline yet, but I’ll pass on the suggestion and add it to our list of possible future improvements.

Sorry for the trouble! Yep, this annoys me too :) I think we’re hoping to do some web cleanup work later this summer and fall, so I’ll add this to our list of possible improvements.

More robust graphs/trends on mobile
The ability to see YTD spending, break down by cost type, etc. would be great. Also, perhaps a spreadsheet view of expenses.
79 votesThanks for the suggestion! Our website currently has a few more advanced charts and graphs (totals by category, printable monthly summaries), and our iPhone app has a few basic charts as of v4.0 (group totals, export as spreadsheet). We’re hoping to bring similar features to Android soon, and to add more features as time goes on :)

Allow two (or more) currencies
When breaking down costs abroad, it would be great to have the currency for the country you're in (eg. Euros) and also the conversion for your home currency (eg. GBP). That way you can see what you're spending (or owed) in the foreign currency but also in your home currency with an updated exchange rate. It's great you are able to convert the currency in the pro version, but being seeing both currencies would be a great advantage.
8 votesThanks for the suggestion! I can see how it’d be useful to have both numbers side-by-side. I’ll add this to our list of ideas for future improvements.

Settle up in groups by adding the debts outside of the group
We are using split wise in a large group of people. We already have a great amount of groups which we never settle up with real money. When we delete a group for cleaning up splitwise all our debts get lost. It would be nice if splitwise would add the debts (only the debts to a specific person if simplify debts is on) from a group to outside of the group. So everything would stay in balance if you delete a group.
5 votesThanks for the suggestion! For now, you may want to check out the “Simplify debts with this person” option (web-only), which moves all of a person’s group debts out of the group. You can do this by clicking on a person’s name in the left sidebar, then clicking the settings icon at the top of the right sidebar and choosing “Simplify debts with this person”.

Consider # of previous payments between individuals when simplifying
I've had two groups where I put in a few major expenses. Some people started settling up by sending me a payment, but then others put in a few new smaller expenses. People who already paid me once now owe me a second payment, which is annoying.
1 voteSorry for the trouble! This probably isn’t an easy update to make, unfortunately, but I’ll definitely add it to our list of possible improvements. In the meantime, apologies for the inconvenience!

to include a calendar screen to check the expenses on a particular day or even enable the expenses to be posted on Google calendar
add a calendar screen to check expenses in past 2. Add expenses to google calendar

Integrate Square Cash Mail-to and Yodlee Payment Integration
Any plans to integrate square cash into the platform? They don't have an API, but you could integrate the mail-to functionality to trigger an email. I really hate using Venmo and still leave your site to make payments.
Have you considered integrating Yodlee into your platform? I currently use a combination of BillGuard and Splitwise. I think combining the two would be incredible. You could have a real time feed into splitwise of your most recent charges and then decide if you want to split them. You'd be able to monetize your app by charging a subscription for banking integration.

Add support for bills recurring every n weeks (where n is a positive integer)
I can currently add weekly and fortnightly recurring bills, but not every 3 or 4 weeks.
39 votesThanks for the suggestion – this definitely makes sense! Our recurring bill system is pretty basic right now, but hopefully we’ll have a chance to spruce it up in the future. It’d be great to support more flexible kinds of bills (every 3 weeks, the last Thursday of every month, things like that).

Add Cash/Money Icon
Multiple instances recently I have gone on looking for a banking/finance icon. (lending someone cash, money exchange while travelling). I was wondering if you could add an icon for finance/monetary transactions.
I love splitwise by the way!
13 votesThanks for the suggestion – I’ll pass it on! We re-evaluate our list of categories every once in a while, and I can see how this might make a good addition :)

add expand icon
add expand icon in place of distance displaying all the expenses for each Friend.
Means when i select the expand icon then only it should display the detailed expenses for each category like groups and non groups expenses, else just display the simplified form of expense1 voteI’ll pass on the suggestion! I know the new style of displaying a friend’s balances looks a bit different, but we thought it was pretty important to show the full details – a lot of people were getting confused about their total balances. Hopefully we can keep improving the design in future updates!
