Start companyname.splitwise.com and integrate with Google Apps.
I am a Splitwise addict. I loved it and referred close to 30 people. I work with a startup in India and almost all companies in India/startups use Google Apps. (There is no other way).
We have to submit show our bills to our HR every time to reimburse and we also have to split bills in most cases.
Can you use/combine personal and professional accounts like Asana does (two emails) and access splitwise? This can be a great business plan for you too!
5 votesThanks for the suggestion – this is a clever idea! We’ve thought about Splitwise for business purposes before, but so far we’ve focused on friends and roommates instead. I’ll add this idea to our list of possible improvements for the future :)

Windows 10 Universal App
Please support Windows 10 by creating an official Splitwise universal app. A universal app is capable of running on ALL Windows 10 devices (desktop PCs, tablets, phone and Xbox) with one single set of code.
901 votesThere are some Windows 10 universal apps written by third party developers that work with Splitwise. Here are two we’re aware of:
Split It: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/split-it/9wzdncrdpfhg
SplitBook: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/splitbook/9nblggh6jkm6
We can’t endorse these apps specifically, but you may find them useful.

Sharing money function
Thank alot for a very very usefull application.
I saw that in web version the sharing money has a custom tab that allows people to share each items in the bill. But I cannot find that tab in mobile version. I think that is a very reality function that will be good to be had on mobile version.
By the way, Splitwise only be used for sharing money without expense management. If Splitwise includes expense management function. It's really an excellent application, I think. Thanks alot for your application.
KhiemNS6 votesWe have plans to add the various split methods available in the web to the mobile apps in time. However we’re a small dev team so we do not know when we’ll be able to achieve this for all splits on all platforms.

to add support for 'fictional' users
It would be cool to create groups with persons (or instances) who don't have a splitwise account. Just to keep track of it youselfs.
for example.
I keep my lunchtickets and fuel-tickets for my company en give them to them at the end of the month. but it takes my company some time to settle up the money. It would be cool to list those expenses and enter when the company payed me. So i can see how many money the company still owns me. But the company shall not have a splitwise account. It is just a 'group' for…9 votesWe’re pretty hesitant to add fake people to Splitwise as it’s caused us a lot of trouble in the past, but this use case seems worth looking at.

Add possibility for paypal.me link
The new service from paypal offers new possibilities to transfer money more easily to freinds and family with a link like https://www.paypal.me/username/25.43
It makes sense to include the possibility to settle up via this link or to generate the link as such for further sharing. (by adding the paypal.me-username to the splitwise-account)
36 votesInteresting. I haven’t seen this yet. It’s unlikely we’ll be able to support this as our control over how the PayPal code works is limited, but it’s definitely worth looking into.

Add option of auto adjustment to the bills like deposits/furniture bills when a new person is added to a flat/apartment group
Add option of auto adjustment to the bills like deposits/furniture bills when a new person is added to a flat/apartment group.
Currently if a new person is added, we have to edit the bills (like initial deposit, furniture etc) manually.
Also need an option to manage deposits rather than expense bills2 votesThere’s not really a good automated way to handle this, though we agree there are some common cases that are pretty annoying. Deposits you can currently do on the website with the reimbursement split type.

Ask for 'location' permission so you can tell when I travel and remind me to use Splitwise
Recently I came back from a vacation and realized that I have
written all the shared expenses the old way of note taking in my note app
rather than using splitwise. I simply forgot that I can use splitwise. I
wished splitwise would remind me some how to use the app when I'm
traveling.
You can probably put an option in the settings to ask the user if he/she
wants splitwise to know their location. Then when this setting is on you
find out that I am out of town and give me a notification like "I see you
are…1 voteInteresting suggestion! I can see how this’d be pretty cool, though I can also imagine how other people would see this as a breach of privacy, so we’d probably have to make it opt-in or something like that. I’ll add it to our list of possible ideas for the future :)

sync with Tripit
retrieve trip data, people traveling and booked/payed plans from the tripit platform. this will reduce the effort of setting up a new splitwise trip a lot.
9 votesThanks for the interesting and new idea! We are generally cautious adding new integrations but if this becomes a popular request we will review the feasibility in more detail.
Best,

Sync friends with iOS Contacts
Currently, app friend will not display changes in name of friends, or additional email addresses if added recently.
But such a great app! 5 stars!
2 votesThis is an interesting idea. Might solve some of the issues cause when a friend picks a silly name on Splitwise that makes things confusing.

Make simplify debts more accessible
The simplify debts feature is excellent and I use it all the time. However, It's currently hidden in the settings menu and I think that it should be out front and center for everyone to see!
21 votesWe’ve actually made this feature less accessible over time as we found any people we’re confused by this. We are working on some changes to make it more understandable and will probably make it easier to turn on when we think we’ve got a good explanation for it.

Make each entry in "Recent activity" pop open the relevant expense
Currently, clicking on an item in "Recent activity" takes you to the group where the expense resides, but it doesn't actually show you the relevant entry in that group. Clicking on one of these entries should take you to the relevant group AND pop open the edit dialog for the expense, or at least highlight the expense on the list.
18 votesWe’ve got a version of this on the mobile apps. I expect we’ll bring something similar to the web app when we can find the time.

Have no one pay
An option to make it so everyone owes the group for a bill. I.e. No one lent the money, the entire group needs to pay rent.
10 votesSorry for the trouble! The best way to do this right now is to set up the bill so that everyone pays for their own share. Just tap on the button that says who paid, change the payer to “Multiple payers”, and then enter each person’s share, and the resulting bill should have no effect on your overall balances.

'Art' category
For expenses

Make reimbursements look different than charges
I got a rewards credit on my credit card statement, and since it was for joint charges, i wanted to split that extra $25 with him - aka he now owes me $12.50 less than before and I owe him $12.50 less. But nothing after the "create bill" screen makes the bill look like a credit and I'm having to do math manually to make sure it worked. Perhaps if reimbursements looked different than negative bills it would be easier to track these?
7 votesSorry for the confusion! You’re definitely right that reimbursements aren’t presented very well…they’re a pretty rarely used feature, so we haven’t had a chance to give them much love yet. I’ll add this to our list of possible improvements for future updates – until then, apologies for the inconvenience!

Let users indicate when they have entered all expenses for a group
The way that my friends and I have been using Splitwise for the past year and a half is, for any group trip we take, we create a separate Splitwise group for that trip. It's a great workflow and Splitwise has been invaluable to us, but one tweak would make it even better:
We use "simplify debts" to cut down on transactions, and to make that work best, it's best for everyone to wait for every expense from the trip to be added before settling up. The way we've been handling it has just been to have everyone add their…
164 votesThanks for the suggestion! I totally understand this use case – “don’t settle up until I add everything” is something I’ve heard friends of mine say anecdotally. I’ll add this to our list of possible improvements for future versions :)

Transfer money directly through Splitwise
Why you are planning to add square cash as an payment option, why you are using third party tools. Instead, do you have any future strategy to implement your own payment option, somewhat exactly as square cash. By this, people will trust in your own application more than someone else. For example, If I have to give some money to my friend, than either I give cash or will send money online by bank transfer or square cash. In either option I have to go and create a transaction in split wise and when my friend give it back than…
28 votesSorry for the trouble! It’d definitely be interesting to transfer money directly through Splitwise (without using PayPal/Venmo/Square Cash/etc). We haven’t built that feature so far because there are a lot of regulations around transferring money, and we’d need to do a lot of technical and legal work, but it’s on our list of possible things to do in the future.

fix the tax/tip section
Can you adjust the UI such that it explains you can add as a percentage or a fixed amount. The gray text claims % but if i plug in 7 (for 7%) it splits $7 of tax, not 7% of the subtotal.
1 voteSorry for the confusion! It’s intentional that you can enter either a whole amount ($7) or a percentage (7%) in that box, but it could probably be improved to be clearer. I’ll add this to our list of possible things to work on in the future.

Pro Feature: Total expenses based on a filter
It would be cool if I could create a custom filter for totaling expenses in a group. Use case: My housemate never names his grocery runs anything sane (i.e. something with 'groceries' in it so that your metadata tracker picks up on the category). I would like to create a glob/regex filter to add in all expenses with "woodman" in the title to grocery category.
Unless your auto-categorization is perfect or this filter feature is added, the usefulness of pro-charts is limited.
Pro looks promising so far, thought. Thanks!
1 voteThanks for the suggestion Julian, and for upgrading to Pro.
I can definitely see how this would be useful for some folks. Not sure if/when it’ll make it onto the road map (we’re 4 engineers), so for now let me suggest that your roommate manually categorize all the groceries expenses they don’t name something ‘common’.
Cheers, Zoe

Disable loading phone contacts when entering a transaction
If I want to enter a transaction, I want to do this fast, so spent the least possible amount of time on searching and including the right person. The Android app shows all my phonebook contacts, which is not convienient if I just quickly want to add a transaction.
Maybe a separate "import phonebook contacts" button can be made available
26 votesThanks for the suggestion! I can see how this would be useful – a lot of people do use the auto-loaded contacts, but I can imagine that being not helpful for some people.

.. add settings for the picture-quality of the uploaded receipt?
Because sometimes it seems the picture is really low res while the original photo on the phone is high res.
19 votesSorry for the trouble! We try to strike a good balance between image size and picture quality (I think we generally crop images to 1000×1000px). I’m not sure we’ll add a manual setting for image quality, but hopefully we can keep making improvements to allow for better images.
