  1. Payment Repeat

I would to have an option to repeat a payment for a certain number of times.
For instance, repeat $10 for 5 months.
As of now, I am not able to restrict the number of installments to repeat

Interesting idea, thanks for the suggestion!

I’m leaving your idea as “under review” to see if others have the same request. Our repeating expenses system could definitely be improved in several ways, but to be honest, doing so isn’t on the medium term roadmap at the moment.

  2. Suggest who should pick up the tab

When entering a new bill (particularly at a restaurant, but there are many scenarios), once all of the names have been entered into "With you and", figure out who owes the most money among the participants and suggest that person as the "Paid by".

  4. add more clearer receipts (clear text)

Hope you guys know the CamScanner's android app, which scans the receipts in an efficient way. (Guess they use an algorithm which makes the text on the receipts to appear more clearer.)

Thanks for the suggestion. We will keep that program in mind. For now, you can zoom in on Splitwise receipts — hopefully that lets you see everything you need to. Thanks, Zoe

  5. Allow an end date for recurring payments, or build an incremental recurring payment option

This would allow me to pay someone back in increments until the whole amount is paid back. For example, my fiance paid for flights for our upcoming vacation. I want to pay him back $700 over the next 6 months, so I'd like to set up a recurring monthly payment of $117 that ends after 6 payments. Alternatively, you could add another option for divided bills that automatically calculates and schedules gradual payments.

Thanks for your feedback! I see how this would be a good improvement. Are you aware that you can set a payment to reoccur already, although we don’t have as fine tuning as you’d like? If you need any help setting our (basic) reoccuring feature up please email support@splitwise.com. Thanks, Zoe

  6. Ability to select transactions from bank or card history

Can ask users to link cards and bank accounts in order to show transactions in split wise so user can select transactions instead of having to do manual entry. Plaid makes a great API (demo.plaid.com) for this: harvey@plaid.com

  7. Total money spent VS. Individual share of money (in a month)

    Hi Team,

After activating the splitwise pro feature, i can see the graph feature in my account for expenses over a period of time.

But what i think will be much more useful is my share of those expenses throughout the timeline.

For example, on 10th of a month i spent 10k split between 4 people as rent.
Then in the graph it should show my expenditure on that date as 2.5k which is 1/4th of 10k .
This is how i will know on which day how much is my expenditure exactly, and not how much i lent.

Fair enough! Thanks for the feedback, that makes sense. To be clear, the X/Y axis is a balance, not total spending, but you are correct about the pie chart.

Currently, you CAN see your share of things month by month via the “charts” tab on the upper right of the website, and then view full details to see only you share. But I’m leaving this under review to see if any other Pro users feel the same way.

    Best,
    Jon

  8. Payment options available/changeable in account settings

It would be good to select whether or not you would like payments to be received by paypal or not. Sometimes people, like myself, have more than one Paypal account and not necessarirly the one used for splitwise is the correct one. So adding the option to either say you are not accepting paypal payments or the option the change the paypal account would be very helpful and not require to return funds.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is something we are planning! We can’t give you a specific date yet, but we are hoping to implement this feature in the medium term future.

  10. Add @WorkflowHQ app integration to your service!

Allow iPhone users to automate expense entry in the app via a workflow. The integration should allow to specify which group and percentage to use.

We continually review all integration requests when we are planning the future roadmaps of the project. However as a small team we cannot offer any addition information on when we will be able to add them if at all.

  12. Allow Venmo Charges

You venmo integration is great, but you currently cannot request money and create a Venmo charge. This would help remind people to settle debts. You've already integrated with the Venmo API, and according to their documentation, all you need to do is put a negative amount in the request to create a charge -- this should be easy (see: https://developer.venmo.com/docs/payments).

  13. Automate currency based on location

I travel a lot and have to remember to set my default currency at the beginning and end of every trip, or alternatively change currency with every expense added (yawn!). Would be great to have the OPTION of location awareness. If turned on it would choose the currency of whatever country I'm in and perhaps a simple override button to use my default currency.

  14. Allow login to multiple splitwise accounts

I have a splitwise account for US and 1 for India so I can easily work with my friends back home in settling up birthday gifts and charity work. It would be great if I can have both the splitwise accounts login able for my phone app easily so different currencies balance from different account would show up.

    Hi there,

Multiple accounts is very difficult to build on our end, so we’re not likely to implement that. We do our best to allow you to create separate groups and use multiple currencies, etc whenever you need to from the same account.

If you have any complaints about the way that works, feel free to email us in private at support@splitwise.com.

If you’d like to merge your two Splitwise accounts and keep both emails attached, please email us at support@splitwise.com and we can also do that for you! As of just a couple weeks ago, we’ve created the ability to support multiple email addresses on the same account, which you can access from your user settings.

  15. Override language settings using an in-app language selector

It would be great if the default language which is currently preset by phone settings can be overwritten using an in-app language selector.
    Thanks!

Update: this is now possible on iOS 13! Go to the Settings app and find Splitwise in the list near the bottom. You can choose the language for the app separately from your main phone language. You may also need to change the setting in the Splitwise app as well in your Account settings as we keep a separate language setting for notifications that doesn’t always update automatically right now.

Thanks for the suggestion and sorry if you prefer to use Splitwise in English when the rest of your phone is another language. We haven’t seen any other apps that allow you to do this, and it would be fairly difficult for us to build, so this is not something we’re going to be able to do in the near term. That said I’m leaving this “under review” in case a lot of other users would like us to build…

  17. set a count for how many times an expense should recur

This applies to both the Mobile and web apps. There is an option in the date pop up where you can select the expense to recur at an interval (weekly, fortnightly, monthly etc). My suggestion is to include an option to select how many times it should recur.

For example, a friend of mine borrowed cash which he promised to pay back in 6 equal installments. Split wise allows me to opt for the expense to recur monthly, but doesn't allow me to limit it to 6 times.

  18. Bug Report: % split yields error when lowering expense amount

If you enter a % split, it's stored as $ values and throws an error when you subsequently reduce the total cost.

    Steps to reproduce:
    -add a bill of > $1
-set it to a percentage split
    -confirm/accept the bill
-edit the bill and attempt to lower the price to $1
-observe that an error dialog appears complaining that the new price is less than your share of the bill

  19. Integrate with PayPal so that I can import latest expenses directly into my splitwise account!

I use the PayPal card a lot for making purchases. It would be awesome if you could integrate PayPal with Splitwise - perhaps import the latest expenses?

  20. Change the Settle All balances

    Team,
The option of "Settle All balances" seems to be confusing, instead of this, can we not record a cash payment. Alternatively, this option should be read only since it is automated. We have also noticed that this is getting added automated when we record a cash payment but doesnt get deleted when we delete the cash payment.
Looking forward to hear back from you.
    Thanks,
    Anuj

Thanks for the suggestion. We do plan to improve this feature at some point. We will most likely not make it read only (adding things you can’t edit or delete is rarely a good thing). You can currently record a cash payment and avoid this. To do so, you must record a payment separately in each group you owe money in instead of making one payment for everything.
