add discount
when splitting a bill item wise, please also add a category of discounts, along with tax columns that are there... also please allow users to add more tax rows if need be
21 votesWhat would the additional tax rows be for? And discount would be a percentage of the total? a whole negative dollar value?

Add print option
Wanted to be able to print Trip split calculator to pass out to group of people before the trip. I can print it via web but looks better if it have print option for registered user to print it in print format.
6 votesI’m not sure we’ve thought about print-specific versions of our calculators before – I’ll pass on the suggestion at our next meeting. Thanks!

allow custom date range for charts
allow charts to display info from more than just one month,
for example past two months or past year10 votesThis would be a logical way to make charts/group totals more flexible. It’s not on our roadmap yet, but hopefully it’s something we can consider for a future update.

Textbox for Quantity
Next to the $ text box add a text box for Quantity which will help reduce the amount of time the user when entering itemized bills
5 votesThanks for the suggestion! We’re considering some updates to the itemized bill form – I’ll pass on this idea.

Have amount owed and total bill amount in the history
In the bill history section (the screen that shows when you click the little flag next to the logo) currently it only shows the amount owed or the amount I need to pay. However if I want to check if a certain bill is loaded it is easier to see the total amount of the bill. So can you add the total bill amount to that screen? Thanks!
5 votesWe’ve been meaning to improve the design of those little notifications for a while – we’ll definitely keep this in mind :)

Display the old and new balances for each person involved in Debt Simplification
Debt simplification is a very good idea, but it lacks one most important thing. The old and new balances for each participant with the friends they simplified with. This is causing a lot of confusion, as to who was owing how much before the debt was simplified. So, it is urgently required if you could add the details about how much each person paid and how much each person gets back after the debt simplification.
32 votesWe do need to update the information shown to users so they can make sure the shuffle worked correctly.

Yearly Spreadsheet option
I'd like to be able to do a print out of the entire year in a spread sheet, so I can calculate my own portions of bills for the entire tax year.

Aggregate Trip expenses
For trips category it makes sense to have a single chart/summary rather than having a month-wise one. With the month-wise one trips that go over the month-end are difficult to generate a report for.
18 votesThis is a great idea!

Shared Fund for house
Hey there
As a house we use a single account which we all pay regularly and equally into. From here all bills and house payments are covered. Like a kitty of sorts, we can use it for everything, and there is an excess for emergencies.
It would be great to create an entity, like a Friend, but it is an account that we can keep track of the amount in it, but it doesnt recalculate what people are owed back from it automatically. Currently, if everyone pays say, £100 per month, and a bill comes out of it, if i…64 votesWe’re not currently planning to build this, but as some users have mentioned in the comments, one workaround is to create a dummy member of your group using an @example email address to represent your ‘kitty’ or shared fund.

allow expense to be tracked to a given budget
i.e. if our household (group) budget is 100 USD a month, split wise shows us how much we have spent of that to date - how much has been spent as allocated to the grocery expense category vs what was defined as the budget. Would be great if we could set budgets for each expense category.
Would make a great tool even better at helping us control spend! Seeing a visual budget is much more motivating ;)
133 votesBudgets definitely make a lot of sense. They’re not a feature on our roadmap yet (we’re a tiny team, and still focused on other improvements), but hopefully they’re something we can work on in the future.

add an option to filter expenses I am 'Not Involved' in the 'All Expenses' and 'Groups' view
There could be a lot of transactions I am 'Not involved' in, more importantly not interested in.... A filter would help clear up any mess..
13 votesWe do have this in groups right now. I’m not sure we’ll add it to the all expenses view and will probably just add search and filtering to that list.

The Facebook invite system has changed a lot over the years, and it makes it hard for users to receive updates, notifications, etc. Also, many users do not like getting invites through Facebook.
We are still open to doing this, and we’ll leave it under review for further voting or commentary. For now, we recommend you send invites via email or SMS.

Rearrange Expenses in a given day / Add time to expense
Allow user to move items so that he can rearrange them in a chronological order for that day.
For Ex. I might add the dinner expenditure first, and then the breakfast expenditure, but would want the breakfast to appear before the dinner in the reports and charts. Being able to re-arrange would help.
If re-arranging is a difficult to achieve, then we can get the same done by asking user to enter time (optional) for the expenditure.36 votesI really like this idea, and can see why people would want it (including myself who needs to organize everything obsessively by time). We’ve talked about doing this and think it’s a good addition, but it will be a little bit before we can get it in there.

Confirm cancel/escape of itemised bill adding
If we accidentally press Esc or if we happen to click outside the bill entering area, the and new bill popup disappears. We have to enter the whole bill allover again.
Ask for a confirmation from the user before cancelling the bill addition

allow a recurring settle up a reminder
Would be nice if you could set up a recurring reminder to settle up once a month. I.E., on the first of the month it would send out an email with the total you owe and to who.
22 votesThis is a neat idea, and something I would find useful too. I’ll bring it up with my co workers at our next meeting to see if/when we can stick it on the schedule.

Upload a PDF
Please add the option to upload a PDF file or link to a PDF file on the internet with the option to share a username and password to access it.
19 votesI could see how having a password pdf to be used within a group or friends would be helpful. I’ll bring it up at our next meeting and see if it’s something we’d like to add.

Recurring expenses
It would be nice to have the ability to have recurring payments be able to be posted earlier than 7 days. For example, I'd like to have rent post in the middle of the month as opposed to just 7 days before it's due. Maybe it can be stretched to 14 days/2 weeks?

Don't consider accents when searching for a friend's name
Hi,
I have a friend whose first name is "Émilie". Note the accented É since the name is in French.
When searching for names, her name does not appear if I type "Emi"; it only appears when typing "Émi".
Would it be possible not to consider accents when searching?
Thanks
6 votesThanks for the suggestion, makes sense! I’m sorry for any inconvenience for now.

Advance payment between friends
There are instances when there is an advance payment involved ( including yourself ) between friends and then expenses deduct the money.
I am not able to add my own share ( advance payment ) in a group. Typically in this scenario its like X pays X ( which is not a valid scenario in other conditions )33 votesI can definitely see how this would be useful! Hopefully we can consider adding support for a “kitty fund” or the like sometime in the future.
For now, I’ve seen a few people simulate this by adding an additional member to their group called “Kitty fund”, and using that extra member to keep track of shared funds. For example, if everyone pays $100 to the kitty fund at the beginning of the month, then you can choose the kitty fund as the payer for new expenses like groceries or rent. Splitwise should accurately update to show how much money the kitty fund has left (e.g. “The kitty fund owes $50” = the kitty fund has $50 left). It’s definitely a bit of a hack, but it might be worth trying if you and your friends always split bills this way.

Recurring expenses with varying costs
Allow users to add recurring expenses that will vary in cost month to month and prompt the user for that months cost.
153 votesUpdating this as it’s been a while. You can currently accomplish this by setting your expense to recur every month and then editing the amount on the expense once it posts.
Apologies that we don’t have a better way of managing this yet!
